Microsoft Classic IntelliMouse, the Return of an Icon

The first Microsoft Intellimouse dates all the way back to 1996. Backed by a remarkable track record, the Intellimouse brought us many innovations that included the incorporation of a scroll wheel, optical sensor, and auxiliary buttons. A wireless model was also released to the public. Despite its popularity, Microsoft eventually discontinued the product in 2012. And now, five years later, the company announced the latest iteration to the series, the Classic Intellimouse, at their recent Surface Book 2 launch event.

Nostalgia is strong on the Classic Intellimouse. It clearly borrows a lot of the design elements from the original Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. The ergonomic design is completemented perfectly by a clean, black and grey theme. The red tail light has been changed in favor of a white color to make the mouse look sleeker than ever. There are five buttons on the Classic Intellimouse's body, and three of them are user-customizable. A new 3200 DPI sensor is also hidden in its interior. With the help of Microsoft's BlueTrack technology, precise tracking is possible even on glass surfaces. The mouse's report rate is impressive as well coming in at 1000 reports per second. The Classic connects to the computer through a standard wired USB 2.0 connection.

And CHERRY has not just focused on minimizing noise: the ergonomic, symmetrical design of the Gentix Silent makes this mouse extremely comfortable to use for both left- and right-handed users, while the unique shape accommodates all hand sizes. The wear-resistant rubber surface doesn't just feel good, it also improves the grip on the mouse.

Logitech Improves G203 Prodigy Mouse Sensor Precision with Firmware Update

Logitech has released an updated firmware that brings much more than the usual updates we see: it actually improves rated specs of their already released G203 Prodigy mouse. Case in point: Logitech's Chris Pate said that "We learned a lot of lessons in designing the new HERO sensor found in our latest Logitech G603 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse that could also be applied to the Logitech G203 Prodigy Gaming Mouse." Whether this was achieved through simple overclocking of some of the mice's internals, or simply some unused hardware capabilities that weren't reachable for some reason, it's unclear; what's clear is that the improvements are massive.

Sensor precision for Logitech's 6203 Prodigy has been increased by 33%, from a maximum 6000 DPI (adjustable from 200 DPI) to a maximum 8000 DPI. Maximum mouse speed and acceleration of have also been increased, from 200 IPS to 300 IPS and from 25G to 35G, respectively. Other Logitech G203 features include 1000 Hz USB report rate, programmable buttons with in-mouse storage of settings, and RGB lighting on the "G" logo. The G203's pricing was already reasonable with its base specs and the $39.99 in the U.S. €44.99 in the E.U., but with this update, the value is further increased. The firmware update in question can be downloaded via the latest Logitech Gaming software.

Tt eSports Announces Revised Version of the Level 10 M Mouse

The Level 10 M mouse from Tt eSports has already lived through an update before; and instead of releasing a new, different-branded mouse, Tt eSports is looking to build up the Level 10 M brand by updating the design while keeping the name recognizable. This seems a sensible option - most companies already offer enough different gaming mice for a person to keep track of without an Excel sheet, and some of the differences don't really usually warrant a different name.

ASUS Republic of Gamers Launches Pugio Gaming Mouse

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) is excited to launch Pugio, an ambidextrous gaming mouse that offers ultimate customizability to meet the needs of most hardcore gamers. Its configurable side buttons let you decide on your own side button layout, while exclusive push-fit switch sockets offer variable click resistance. The push-fit design makes it easy to replace worn out switches to extend the lifespan of the mouse. The Pugio features stunning, aggressive aesthetics to match its performance - including angular ASUS Aura RGB light channels with Aura Sync support.

Ambidextrous mice with side buttons usually feature a mirrored button layout to accommodate both right- and left-handed gamers. The drawback of this design is that it often results in side button misclicks. Even with the buttons disabled, they can still be distracting. With the ROG Pugio, there's no need to change your grip style to avoid the buttons. The Pugio has configurable magnetic side buttons on both flanks to give you a truly ambidextrous and ergonomic gaming mouse. Simply swap the buttons out and replace them with the side button covers: use four, two, or no side buttons - the options are all yours.

Tt eSports Announces the Nemesis Switch Gaming Mouse

Tt eSports, Thermaltake's gaming peripherals division, has announced their new take on what an RGB, MOBA or MMO-oriented mouse should deliver. The Nemesis Switch Gaming Mouse features, as its distinguishing feature, a patented switch system that allows for the customization of up to 12 switch keys. Eight of those are available straight away on the left-hand side of the mouse, with four additional keys being hidden inside the mouse.

"But what good are they for if they're hidden and thus inaccessible?", you ask? That's a good question. That's where the patented system comes in: you simply push the panel where the eight side keys are held, and like magic, four other keys come from inside the mouse. Due to this lever system, you'll certainly lose time with the mechanism rolling inside the mouse and exposing either set of keys, so maybe you should take care which actions you configure these extra four keys with. The twelve macro-supporting programmable buttons are configured by Thermaltake's Tt eSports Plus+ mobile and PC application. The Tt eSports Plus+ app also stores activity logs, performance statistics, and other information.

MSI Announces Two Variants of the Clutch Gaming Mouse

Adding to their Clutch gaming mice line-up, MSI has just released two new models. The Clutch GM60 and GM70 both feature RGB functionality and interchangeable thumb rests, which should make these appealing to both right-handed and left-handed people. There are two differentiating factors between these two models. The first is the PMW 3360 sensor: the GM60 allows sensitivity to be set anywhere between 1-10,800, while the GM70 increases that margin to 1-18,000 DPI resolution. Both do this in 100 DPI steps, with an adjustable 1,000-3,000 Hz polling rate. The second stands with the connection type: while the GM60 supports a corded connection only, the GM 70 supports both corded and wireless connections. The change between wired and wireless increases response time from 0.33 ms corded to 1 ms wireless. I'm not a professional gamer, but that doesn't seem like much to me.

The rest of the specs are pretty much equal between both rodents: 2 m braided cables, Omron Gaming switches, aluminum frame, a pouch, as well as the ubiquitous LED lighting controlled by MSI's Mystic Light software. The GM70 weighs in at 129 g, while the GM 60 is a slightly less meaty 115 g. The company said the Clutch GM70 and Clutch GM60 gaming mice are expected to be in stores worldwide starting July 2017.

SteelSeries Announces the QcK Prism Mouse Mat - 360º RGB Illumination

If you've ever wondered if you could get even more bling for your wrist area, and an RGB-crazed playground for your hairless rodent of choice, you need not look any further. SteelSeries has just announced availability of their QcK Prism mouse mat, which offers a psychedelic 360º of RGB illumination. All of this is powered by USB, but we do have an abundance of those on the back of our rigs (and in some of our monitors as well.)

This is achieved by a total of 12 separate, RGB-lighted zones, which integrate a 356.71 x 292.4 mm area (with 8.68 mm height.) The mouse sports a dual-sided, reversible design, with premium micro-textured cloth on one side (for added friction) and a hard polymer surface for faster gliding movements on the other. Users can just flip the side they want on top, laying it over the RGB-illuminated base to play with the surface resistance type that they prefer. It is also controllable via the SteelSeries Engine software and supports SteelSeries GameSense which will allow the QcK Prism to react to in-game events such as low ammo, health, kills, cooldown timers and more. Interestingly, SteelSeries pits its QcK directly against Razer's Firefly (I really like the "intuitive cable placement" selling point.) The SteelSeries QcK will be available to light your world for $59.99, or a murderous 75€.

Yes, you read the title right. This is it, folks; it's arrived. The "smart" craze started with your "smart"phones and that has, in the meantime, risen to global domination in all kind of think-tanks and sci-fi scenarios has also arrived, quite literally, towards your gaming hands. The eSPORTS Ventus X Smart Gaming Mouse succeeds Thermaltake's previous Ventus X rodent, forgoing its ambidextrous design for one that's now definitely righter. It packs smart sensors that "track key mouse usage statistics such as click, movement and liftoff, which can be saved onto the cloud with social media integration for information sharing and review of these key performance criteria." (This also seems to me like a sensible way for someone to know whether you are on your PC or not simply through the mouse's feedback on these metrics, but I digress.) With Bluetooth support, the Ventus X Plus Smart (smarter) syncs this data with "mobile devices (iOS/Android) & PC via the Tt eSPORTS PLUS+ application and the Tt eSPORTS PLUS+ Community & Data Management Platform."
