In this case, 240 Hz at 4K and 480 Hz at 1080p. However, LG only provided basic specs and didn't reveal pricing back then, both of which now have been revealed. The 31.5-inch OLED panel used doesn't really stand out from the crowd with a typical brightness of 275 cd/m², a color depth of 1.07 billion colors (10-bit panel), a contrast ratio of 1.5 million to one a gray to gray response time of 0.03 ms and DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification.

As far as connectivity goes, some of you will be disappointed, as the 32GS95UE-B only sports DisplayPort 1.4 as well as HDMI 2.1. A $900 monitor that doesn't support software updates is absurd." The more expensive MPG tier appears to be the best route for gamers who enjoy a little bit of future-proofing and bug fixing.

Samsung Electronics today announced the Galaxy Book4 series will be available in selected markets starting February 26. Mid-January reportage indicated that LG and Samsung plants in South Korea had commenced construction of next-gen Apple iPad OLED parts—while expert analysis has predicted a second quarter launch of 11 and 13-inch "Pro" tablet models. Omdia—an independent analyst and consultancy firm—has compiled its Apple field research into a forecasted roadmap of various portable products. Company analysts believe that: "LG Display (LGD) and Samsung Display (SDC) are preparing to mass-produce RGB tandem stack and Hybrid OLEDs from their half-Gen 6 fabs. Apple also plans to launch the MacBook Pro with OLED displays in 2026. BOE, LGD, and SDC are preparing their fab investments to produce RGB tandem stack and hybrid OLEDs at half-Gen 8.7 fabs."

9to5Mac's insider network detected whispers of possible Apple tablet physical profile adjustments—suggesting that a larger next-gen iPad Air is in the pipeline, alongside a thinner iPad Pro design update: "(we) first reported last year that Apple has been working on two new versions of the iPad Air, codenamed J507 and J537. While one of these models will look pretty much like the current iPad Air, the other will have a larger display. If true, this will be the first time Apple will offer the iPad Air in two different sizes. And according to our sources, this larger iPad Air will have essentially the same dimensions as the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro, suggesting that the screen size will also be almost identical. The announcement outlined an initial MSRP of $1199 for MSI's MPG 321URX gaming monitor, although a time-limited special introductory offer of $949 was later advertised. ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) released its Swift OLED PG32UCDM gaming monitor (in USA and UK markets) late last week—competing at a $1299 price point with MSI's 321URX model. The two companies are attempting to outdo each other—earlier this month MSI pledged a 3-year warranty on its OLED panel products, semi-forcing ASUS into matching that generous offer—they previously advertised a two-year period for ROG Swift OLED monitors.

Attention is now turning to the late February Mobile World Congress (WWC) 2024 trade show—following journos recovering from their recent CES gauntlet-esque ordeals. An exclusive Windows Report piece proposes that Lenovo representatives will be heading to Barcelona with a very special next generation laptop in hand. The publication has a outed a number of upcoming portable devices, two weeks prior to Lenovo's intended showcase (February 26 - 29)—we witnessed a similar occurrence last year with WinFuture leaking Microsoft's September Surface refreshes. Six notebook refreshes (ThinkPad and ThinkBook) are mentioned in the latest report, as well as Gen 2 version of Lenovo's ThinkVision M14T portable monitor.

Announced just before the Christmas holiday, LG's UltraGear 27GS95QE is now starting to become available for purchase. The differences between it and its predecessor, the 27GR95QE are very minor and the only obvious specification change is a bump in SDR brightness from 200 nits to 275 nits typical brightness. That said, the older 27GR95QE didn't quite manage to meet the 200 nits figure in reviews. Likewise the claimed 1000 nits HDR brightness wasn't achieved by the older model either and although LG is sticking to the same peak HDR brightness, it's possible that this has been improved as well, as the older model didn't go much beyond 600 nits in reviews.

The UltraGear 27GS95QE retains the matte AG coating, so those hoping for a glossy display are out of luck as well. TFT Central believes that the 27GS95QE is using a new WOLED panel from LG Display that is technically capable of reaching 1300 nits, but this is currently just speculation. Converting C$1200 to US$, suggests that the MSRP is likely to be US$899 plus taxes, which means the new models will be around U$100 cheaper than the old model in terms of MSRP. For anyone that isn't overly concerned about the brightness, the older 27GR95QE has been discounted by LG in the US and is now going for US$750, which is a US$250 discount on the US$999 MSRP. The lower MSRP of the new models appears to suggest that OLED pricing are slowly coming down in price, but it appears we're going to have to wait another couple of years before they reach more mainstream pricing.

Earlier today, Bloomberg published a report that covers expert analysis of the Nintendo Switch successor's alleged display credentials. The media outlet cites claims made by Hiroshi Hayase—Research Manager (of Small Medium Displays) at Omdia. The analyst proposes that Nintendo's hardware design team has selected an eight inch LCD screen for their "Switch 2" games console, he also believes that the launch model is due at some point this year. Hayase-san has gleaned information from supply chain insiders—the Switch successor could double shipments of entertainment-oriented "small displays." Sharp Corporation is believed to be Nintendo's main supplier, according to interpretations of deliberately vague company statements.

Nintendo's 2017 launch model sported a 6.2-inch LCD display, a more portable Lite version arrived in 2019 with a 5.5-inch display, and a larger 7-inch OLED iteration was released back in 2021. Gaming communities have long speculated about an abandoned "Switch Pro" model—many believe that the project was dropped due to ongoing supply chain problems during lockdown periods. The Switch OLED (plus its modernized dock station) is believed to be an interim gap fill. Nintendo has revealed little about their next generation gaming console, but development partners have been making some noise lately. According to a 4Gamer.net interview article, workers at Japanese studios (CAPCOM, Koei Tecmo, and Spike Chunsoft) have expressed major excitement about the upcoming model's prospects. GDC's 2024 State of the Game Industry report revealed that 240 respondents have admitted that they are actively working on Switch 2 games software.

Insider information emerging from an LG Display manufacturing plant points to OLED screen production ramping up in the coming months for fitting on next generation Apple iPad Pro models. According to Korea's The Elec, LG as well as rival Samsung's Display division are about to begin production on thin film transistor (TFT) layering for prosumer iOS-driven tablets. LG is allegedly contracted to manufacture upcoming 13-inch iPad Pro display tech, while Samsung is tasked with producing an 11-inch parts. The Korean report proposes that Apple is hoping to get its 13-inch and 11-inch OLED iPad Pro models into a mass production phase by March. Apple did not release any new iPad models last year, so it will be interesting to see if pent-up demand can offset poor sales."

INNOCN brought its latest gaming monitors to the 2024 International CES; it didn't waste out time with monitors based on 15 year old tech; but rolled out the very latest—IPS with miniLED backlighting, and OLED. The Titan Army P27A6V is a 27-inch planar display with 4K Ultra HD resolution and a blistering 144 Hz refresh rate (which is high, considering this is 4K). Switching up gears is the INNOCN M27E6V, a 27-inch planar display with a Fast IPS panel paired with miniLED backlighting. This one provides 4K Ultra HD with even faster 160 Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR 1400, and 99% coverage of DCI-P3. Inputs include DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and USB type-C (DisplayPort passthrough). You can use the monitor in single cable mode if the USB-C connection is capable of delivering 90 W. The next premium display is the Titan Army G27E8S, a 26.5-inch planar display that uses an OLED panel, and meant for performance gaming. You get a lower WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution than the other three displays we mentioned so far; but at higher 240 Hz refresh rate, and under 0.5 ms GTG response time, thanks to the OLED panel. Inputs include DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1. The display meets HDR10 spec.

Continuing on with the YEYIAN CES tour, we were shown the company's in-house gaming monitors, and pre-built gaming PCs. There were no empty cases or cases that you can purchase separately in YEYIAN's lineup as such; some of these case feature unique design elements; but you're supposed to choose it along with pre-built gaming hardware. YEYIAN offers the full range of systems integration, letting you choose from the company's in-house and external brands; which are then built to order. On eof the pre-builts shown had an Intel Core i7-14700K, paired with an OEM-favorite ASUS Prime Z790-P, and a ROG Strix RTX 4090 graphics card, all combined with YEYIAN's in-house case, power, and cooling hardware. The company's monitor lineup shown at CES begins with 25-inch Proact series Fast IPS displays that blaze Full HD (1080p) at 360 Hz with 1 ms GTG response time. Next up is the 27-inch Palette series; a premium OLED monitor with QHD (1440p) resolution, fast 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.1 ms response time, and 800 nits brightness. The monitor requires DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 connection to provide its specs.

At CES 2024, Razer has updated its Blade laptop family spanning across various sizes, and even got a chance to present a "world's first" feature in a gaming product. The star of the Razer booth is the company's flagship Blade 16 laptop, which now supports 240 Hz refresh rate in its 16-inch OLED display format. Being the first to get there, Razer offers a high refresh rate at 2560 x 1600 QHD+ resolution.
