Seasonic Rolls Out its First Connect 750W Power Supply

Way back in Computex 2019, Seasonic showed us the Connect, a concept PC power-supply that greatly de-clutters your build's power cabling spaghetti by introducing the Connect device. This is essentially a power connector spinal back-plane that runs along the height of your tower, with shorter cables emerging from it. The company announced the product's market release with a 750-Watt model, the SSR-750FA. The contraption connects to the main unit through fewer, high-gauge cables.

The business-end of the Seasonic Connect SSR-750FA is a slightly modified Prime 750 W, which is just 14 cm long, and has just the high-gauge cable emerging from it, which leads to the Connect module. Under the hood, the Prime 750 W offers single +12V rail design, 80 Plus Gold efficiency, DC to DC switching, most common electrical protection mechanisms, and a 135 mm fluid dynamic bearing fan to keep cool. Downstream connectivity of the SSR-750FA include a 24-pin ATX, two 4+4 pin EPS, four 6+2 pin PCIe power, 8-10 SATA power, and up to three 4-pin Molex. Seasonic is backing this PSU with a 10-year warranty.

EVGA Announces the B5 Series 80 Plus Bronze Power Supplies

Introducing the EVGA B5 power supplies, the latest power supplies to carry on the EVGA tradition of reliability, performance, and affordability. Here are 5 Facts about the new flagship for EVGA 80 PLUS Certified Bronze power supplies. The B5 power supplies provide maximum flexibility for system builders with a fully modular design and a small chassis across all models. At 150 mm length, the B5 power supplies provide solid, affordable power for all manner of system builds and cases.

Next, the B5 power supplies feature one of the most important standards for reliability - Japanese capacitors. Featuring 100% Japanese capacitors on the 850 W and 750 W models, the B5 power supplies will provide a safe and reliable power for years to come. (650 W B5 and 550 W B5 models use a Japanese main capacitor.) The ultra-quiet 135 mm FDB fan becomes silent when coupled with EVGA ECO mode to turn off the fan in low to medium loads. The larger fan and carefully tuned profile creates a quieter experience than the B3 power supplies.

SeaSonic Launches Trio of Fanless Premium PSUs

SeaSonic late last week launched three new fanless PSUs under the Prime Fanless series. The company expanded its Prime Fanless TX line of 80 Plus Titanium-certified power supplies with a new 700 W model, the Prime Fanless TX-700. This tops the series which has been led by a 600-Watt model since its debut back in 2017. The TX-700 offers full modular cabling, well over 95% efficiency with 230 VAC input, micro-tolerance load regulation (MTLR), APFC, most common electrical protections, and connectivity that include two 8-pin EPS, four 6+2 pin PCIe, and twelve SATA power connectors.

Next up, SeaSonic expanded its Prime Fanless PX line of 80 Plus Platinum certified PSUs with new 500 W and 450 W models. You get largely the same electrical feature-set as the Fanless TX series, but with around 93% efficiency at 230 VAC. You still get two 8-pin EPS connectors, but only up to two 6+2 pin PCIe power, and eight SATA power. SeaSonic is backing both its Prime Fanless TX and PX lines with an industry-leading 12-year product warranty that's probably supported by the fact that these PSUs have no moving parts.

EVGA Unveils BA and B5 Series Mainstream PSUs at CES

EVGA unveiled a pair of entry-thru-mainstream power supply series at CES 2020. These include the BA series at the very bottom of EVGA's pile, an the B5 series that combines a mainstream feature set with some aspirational features such as fully modular cabling. The BA series will eventually replace the BR series. We spotted a 600 W model, although the lineup could include 450 W, 500 W, and 600 W models. The BA is 80 Plus Bronze certified, and features a single +12V rail design, along with fixed, sleeved cabling that includes flat black ribbon-type cables for all connectors except the 24-pin ATX and 4+4 pin EPS.

The B5 series is slightly more upscale, in that it features fully modular cabling, and comes in capacities of up to 750 W. Silverstone at CES 2020: Cases, PSUs, and Accessories Galore

Silverstone at CES 2020 took the opportunity to showcase selections of their portfolio for the media, ranging from PC cases in major form-factors, PSUs, and a range of "ease-of-life" and aesthetic-driven accessories. Accessory-wise, there's a range of SSD-related products, such as the MS09 stick, which allows conversion of an M.2 SSD to what basically amounts to a USB 3.1 pen drive; other products in this category include the MS09-Mini and the MS11, which improves support for the NVMe protocol. The ECM26 is a PCIe adapter for M.2 sticks, while the Silverstone TP02-M2 presents itself as a heatsink for installation on non-passive-cooled M.2 SSDs.

Continuing the SSD accessories galore, there are a number of other solutions, including a tool-less NMVe to PCIe adapter (ECM21-E), an ARGB powered one (ECM24-ARGB, which includes a heatsink), a simpler, non-ARGB one with a heatsink (ECM23), and my personal favorite, a docking station for a barebones M.2 drive you may have around, in the form of the TS16 station. The presence of a Power button very surely means this can't be hot-swapped - the risk of data-loss is real.
