Noctua Presents NA-VC1 24V DC to 12V DC Step-down Voltage Converter for Fans

Noctua today presented its long-awaited NA-VC1 24 V DC to 12 V DC step-down voltage converter that allows running standard 12 V fans in 24 V environments such as 3D printers or industrial and automotive applications. With a maximum operating temperature of up to 60°C, integrated protection against short-circuits, reverse polarity, overcurrent and overheating, the NA-VC1 is as bulletproof as a voltage converter can be. At the same time, its neat, ultra-compact and lightweight design makes it easy to integrate into virtually any environment.

"Customers have been using our 12 V fans in 24 V environments such as 3D printers for a long time, but often had to resort to cheap, poor quality step-down converters in order to do so", explains Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "As these cheap converters can pose a serious safety hazard, we have created our NA-VC1: A compact, safe and dependable solution for running 12 V fans in 24 V environments."

Gigabyte Issues Statement Regarding SOC Voltage on AMD's AM5 Motherboads Under 1.3V

We would like to address the recent media reports regarding the SOC Voltage exceeding 1.3 V on GIGABYTE's AMD AM5 motherboards especially when EXPO is enabled in the latest beta BIOS.

GIGABYTE respects and appreciates media's support and favor to GIGABYTE motherboards for long time. In terms of the SOC Voltage measurement, the authentic measurement point and method is critical since the SOC Voltage will differ by that. The CPU internal SOC Voltage (SVI3 interface) is the most crucial indicator to motherboards, and, in general, the PWM Output Voltage will be higher than the CPU internal SOC Voltage (SVI3 interface) due to various physical factors.

DeepCool Readying Assassin IV Premium CPU Air Cooler For Launch

DeepCool debuted its Assassin IV Dual Tower CPU cooler earlier this year at the CES 2023 trade show - as covered by TPU at the time - its very eye-catching design was described as looking: "like (a) big dark cube inside your case, with a shroud covering all its sheet-metal." The flagship high-performance CPU cooler seems to ready for an imminent launch, with press material and product images being released today for the Chinese market. Early impressions indicate that hardware enthusiasts are appreciative of the almost all-black monolithic aesthetic, with some folks predicting that DeepCool is going to win computer hardware product design awards.

DeepCool press material states (via translation) that its Assassin IV CPU cooler provides super silent operation while dealing with up to 280 W of heat - Intel's latest high-end Core i9 CPUs could be tamed with relative ease. The heatsink is comprised of 7 heat pipes with a dual fan attachment that includes 120 and 140 mm FDB fans - said to operate silently at high RPMs. The fans are rated at 500 - 1700 RPM, with an airflow delivery of 79.1 / 58.06 CFM in performance mode, and 63.76 / 46.75 CFM airflow for the gentler quiet mode. Deepcool's specifications indicate that these cooling fans produce less than or equal to 29.3 dB(A) noise at peak performance, and less than or equal to 22.6 dB(A) noise in quiet mode. The entire cooling solution consumes 2.88 W in performance mode.

Noctua Presents NA-FH1 Eight-channel PWM Fan Hub

Noctua today presented its new NA-FH1 fan hub. The NA-FH1 is a high-quality, smartly-protected 8 channel PWM fan hub that allows up to eight PWM fans to be run and controlled simultaneously via a single PWM motherboard fan header or stand-alone controllers such as the optional NA-FC1. Supporting both 12 V and 5 V fans with 4-pin PWM and 3-pin connectors, the NA-FH1 is highly flexible and suitable both for PC environments and other 12 V- or 5 V-based applications.

"While there is no shortage of fan hubs on the market, we found most of them lacking both from a functional and from a safety perspective," explains Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "PWM control and RPM readout can be unreliable, and most units lack overcurrent or short-circuit protection, which can be dangerous when powering through S-ATA. This is where the NA-FH1 steps in: a safe, dependable quality device for powering and controlling up to eight fans!"

EK Releases FPT 120 and FPT 140 High Static-Pressure Fans for Radiators and Heatsinks

EK, the premium liquid cooling solutions manufacturer, is launching its most advanced fan series to date - the EK-Loop FPT 120 and 140. These high-static pressure radiator cooling fans are designed to completely replace the existing Vardar series across the entire product line. The EK-Loop FPT fans improve upon many aspects while focusing on excellent radiator performance. These fans feature an optimized and balanced performance-to-noise ratio on the wide fan operational range.

New FPT fans feature a full-frame design that doesn't allow air to escape outside the frame, thus achieving better static pressure overall. The latest fan also allows daisy-chaining, ultimately reducing cable clutter and easing cable routing through the EK-OmniLink - an 8-pin Micro-Fit connector ecosystem. All the signal and power wiring for the PWM and D-RGB runs on a single cable and connector, which then utilizes a single cable to connect to the source. Most importantly, the EK-OmniLink ecosystem doesn't require any special controllers since the connection ends in the standard motherboard connectors - a 4-pin PWM for the fan power and a 3-pin 5 V D-RGB for the connectors.
