Samsung SUR40 For Microsoft Surface Now Shipping

Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Corporation and the number one worldwide brand of professional commercial display LCD products, is demonstrating its digital solutions leadership at a showcase event featuring the Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface and a variety of applications from development partners at the National Retail Federation (NRF) conference, being held Jan. 16 and 17 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York in Room 1A17 (on Level One of the convention center).

Available now through Samsung channel and reseller partners, a CES Best of Innovations 2012 award-winner, the Samsung-Microsoft collaboration incorporates Microsoft Surface 2.0 software and touch technology into an interactive and engaging 40-inch Full HD LCD that can be used horizontally as a table, mounted vertically on a wall or embedded in other fixtures and furniture.

ViewSonic Unveils Desktop of the Future with New 32'' Touchscreen Work Surface

ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of computing, consumer electronics and communications solutions, along with EXOPC, today announced the EXOdesk, an interactive touchscreen desk. The companies will showcase the technology demonstration at CES 2012 as part of a strategic partnership.

Built by ViewSonic, the EXOdesk is a 32" 10-point touch tabletop that uses an HTML5 powered user interface created by EXOPC. The EXOdesk demonstrates an intuitive design aesthetic and supports gesture-based control of applications including productivity tools, social networking and games. The desk will be powered by an external PC configured with an Intel Core i7 processor, Intel's integrated graphics, and Windows 7.

Microsoft Surface Technology Release Timeline Updated, Accelerated

Some of you may have heard of Microsoft's Surface technology, which is basically a beautiful and masterful 3D interface built for tabletops. A more informative (and slightly comedic) introduction can be found here. Basically, Steve Balmer took a look at this in-development technology, saw a huge consumer response to it, and decided it was high-time to accelerate development and production. Hence, instead of waiting until 2011 for this thing to come out, we may be seeing it much sooner. Exactly how soon is not known at this point, but it will definitely be sooner. The business version of this technology will be unleashed sometime this Spring, if all goes well.
