AMD's upcoming desktop processor Socket AM5 could retain cooler compatibility with the outgoing Socket AM4, according to a leaked technical document related to the socket. If true, this would be the first time that two fundamentally different sockets—one a PGA, and the other an LGA—are designed for cooler cross-compatibility. The document reveals that with a processor installed, Socket AM5 would align with the retention clip and mount-hole spacing identical to that of Socket AM4. This could mean you can carry over your expensive liquid-cooling setup or pricey AIO CLC over from your current Ryzen desktop build.

New renders of Socket AM5 also reveal that the socket locking mechanism is mostly similar to that of Intel sockets, such as the LGA1200, and isn't a downscale of TR4/sTRX4 as was feared in social media. The top retention brace swings along a hinge, and held in place by pressure from a lever that locks into a hook. Depending on the model, AMD Socket AM5 processors could come in TDP values of 45 W, 65 W, 95 W, 105 W, 125 W, and 170 W.

ID Cooling has announced their latest Mega Coolers, a new moniker and lineup that announces the coolers' compatibility with the latest, greatest, highest performance, and most power-hungry CPUs. The coolers are designed to accompany CPUs with TDPs up to 280 W. ID Cooling said these new mega coolers in the SE-207-series, which are basically tower coolers in design, will be hitting market just in time to address AMD's new-generation enthusiast grade Ryzen 5000-series 'Vermeer' and Intel's upcoming 11th Generation Core 'Rocket Lake' processors.

There are two separate coolers in the family; the SE-207-XT Black is aimed at AMD's Ryzen processors as well as Intel CPUs in LGA1200/115x/20xx form-factors; if you need some more cooling oomph, however, the SE-207-TRX Black is aimed at AMD's Ryzen Threadripper processor in TR4 packaging. In addition to the Neon 122 tower-type air CPU cooler, Super Flower announced the Neon 240 and Neon 360 all-in-one, closed-loop, liquid CPU coolers. Unless we're mistaken, these CLCs appear to be DeepCool-sourced, looking at the design of their pump-blocks. As their names suggest, the two are differentited with radiator sizes, with the Neon 240 featuring a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator, and the Neon 360 featuring 360 mm x 120 mm.

Instead of the silver/black bi-color scheme of the original version, the new cooler sports a white/black design that will feel right at home in fitting color-themed builds. Shadow Rock 3 White boasts a similar cooling capacity as the original silver version, which was released in March 2020. It is rated at an impressive 190 W TDP thanks to its advanced heat sink design and heat pipe layout, and the included Shadow Wings 2 high-speed fan.

Shadow Rock 3 White implements five 6 mm heat pipes with heat pipe direct touch (HDT) technology. The heat pipes are in direct contact with the processor surface, which results in fast heat transfer from the CPU to the heat sink. In Win today rolled out the SR24, an all-in-one liquid CPU cooler featuring a patented "twin turbine pump" feature. These are basically two pump turbines attached on both ends of the DC motor's shaft, which in turn are located on either ends of the CPU block. One of the turbine pushes coolant into the block, while the other pulls heated coolant from it. In Win claims that even if one of the two fails over time, the other will provide sufficient coolant pressure to cool your CPU, while a warning LED lights up. With both turbines operational, the SR24 offers double the coolant pressure, and a markedly superior P-Q curve. The pump block is capped off with an RGB illuminated In Win logo.

As with most PC hardware names that use the term "snow," the 360X Snow is a white trim of the Zoomflow 360. White dominates the pump-block's body, the nylon sleeve around the tubing, the radiator (including its fins), and the three included fans. ID-Cooling claims the cooler is capable of handling thermal loads of up to 350 W thanks to its high coolant pressure and large 360 mm x 120 mm radiator.

AMD is giving finishing touches to its 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper HEDT processor lineup, and the first wave of these chips, starting with a 24-core model, will launch alongside the AMD TRX40 chipset. It turns out that the chipset won't be compatible with 1st and 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper processors. The upcoming 3rd generation Threadripper chips won't be backwards-compatible with the AMD X399 chipset, either. We've been hearing from reliable sources rumors of this segmentation from AMD for a few days now, and tech journalist ReHWolution just tweeted its confirmation having obtained info on upcoming motherboards from a leading brand.

The underlying reason between this restriction remains a mystery. We know that the EPYC "Rome" MCM is pin-compatible with first-generation EPYC "Naples" chips due to the fact that the newer chips are drop-in compatible with older servers via a BIOS update. The TR4 socket, too, is nearly identical to SP3r2, but for four out of eight memory channels being blanked out. It remains to be seen if for TRX40 motherboards, AMD re-purposed these unused pins for something else, such as additional PCIe connectivity or more electrical pins. We'll find out in November, when AMD is expected to launch these chips.

AMD is planning to surprise Intel by unveiling its 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper HEDT (high-end desktop) processor lineup around the same time Intel launches its 10th generation Core "Cascade Lake-X" processor and the "Glacial Falls" HEDT platform, according to sources in the motherboard industry, speaking with DigiTimes. We're fairly sure the sources aren't referring to AMD's 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X processor, because it has already been announced and will be available in September.

The 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper will likely be a derivative of the company's "Rome" multi-chip module, and compatible with existing socket TR4 motherboards with a BIOS update, although a new chipset could also be launched to enable PCI-Express gen 4.0. AMD has the option to deploy up to 64 CPU cores across eight 7 nm "Zen 2" chiplets, while the 12 nm I/O controller die will be likely reconfigured for the HEDT platform with a monolithic 4-channel DDR4 memory interface and 64 PCIe gen 4.0 lanes. Enermax launched over a dozen new product lines and dozens more individual SKUs this Computex. This article part of a 3-part series that covers their exhaustive booth, beginning with fans, and CPU coolers. At the heart of the company's cooling portfolio this year is the new SquaRGB, a new line of case/radiator fans introduced this February, characterized with an RGB LED diffuser design that supposedly looks like a square with two curved sides. With sizes ranging from 120 mm to 140 mm and 200 mm, Enermax used these fans in nearly all their new products, including standalone fan sets, CPU coolers (both air and liquid types), and pre-installed in their new cases. The bore of the fan-frame is still circular, and the irregular shape surrounding the bore funnels air into the impeller.

During our visit with Noctua, we spotted what every air cooling enthusiast has been hoping for, a brand new top of the line D-type cooler. Noctua's next generation model is of course based on the award-winning NH-D15 and NH-D15S and comes packing 7 heat pipes alongside a 10% increase in surface area for improved performance. It also takes design cues from the NH-D15S by using an asymmetrical design for improved PCIe clearance while also retaining the same fin cutouts for improved RAM clearance of 65 mm.

The company plans to release two versions, one with a single fan and of course a dual fan thus offering both a high compatibility and a maximum performance model. Thermaltake today rolled out the Floe Riing RGB 360 TR4 Edition, a variant of this closed-loop liquid CPU cooler for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. Although its pump-block has the same dimensions as the original Floe Riing series, the TR4 Edition features an enlarged, rectangular copper base for more coverage of the Ryzen Threadripper integrated heatspreader (IHS).

The cooler features a 360 mm x 120 mm radiator with three included Riing Plus RGB TT Premium Edition fans, which each spin between 1,000 to 2,000 RPM, pushing 26.35 to 54.42 CFM of air-flow, with a noise output ranging between 21.8 to 33 dBA. DeepCool today introduced the Gamer Storm Castle 240 RGB V2 all-in-one closed-loop liquid CPU cooler with an innovation that minimizes the risk of coolant leakages caused due to environmental air-pressure fluctuations. Called DeepCool Anti-leak Tech Inside, the innovation is an elastic pressure-relief bag inside the radiator's reservoir, which has an opening on one end to the air outside. When there is a pressure differential between the air outside and the coolant inside, the elastic bag either contracts or expands, adjusting the reservoir's volume to normalize pressure. DeepCool also extended the design-goal of leakage prevention to the coolant tube design, by using IIR (isobutyline-isopropylene rubber), a material used in slick aircraft tyres that has high elasticity to cope with touchdown. The inner tube is reinforced by fiber-weave sleeving.

This aside, the Castle 240 RGB V2 looks and performs like the original. Its design includes a somewhat tall, cylindrical pump-block with an RGB LED diffuser up top, plumbed to a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator with two included RGB LED fans. The pump's rated noise is 17.8 dBA at its fixed speed of 2,500 RPM. Each of the included fans spins between 500 to 1,800 RPM, pushing up to 69.34 CFM of air, with a noise output under 30 dBA.
