takeMS Unveils the Selection Series Flash Drives

takeMS has this week announced Selection, a new line of USB 2.0 flash drives which includes 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models. These drives measure 57 x 20 x 9 mm and have a predominantly white casing with a touch of color (black, red, blue, green, orange or purple) at one end and on the logo. takeMS didn't mention prices but said the Selection drives have started shipping.

takeMS Unveils the UTX-2200 Series Solid State Drives

German memory and storage supplier takeMS has this week revealed its own line of solid state drives based on SandForce's SF-2281 controller. Dubbed UTX-2200, takeMS' SSDs feature a 2.5-inch form factor, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memory, TRIM and NCQ support, and a MTBF of 2 million hours.

The UTX-2200 drives are capable of read/write speeds of up to 550/500 MB/s (up to 70,000 IOPS) and will ship (soon) in 60 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacities. Each model will be backed by a two-year warranty and will be bundled with a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch adapter.

TakeMS Enters the SSD Market

TakeMS International AG, German manufacturer of flash memory products for your needs, today joins the SSD business by starting to offer 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB solid-state drives in its product portfolio. Using no special model name, the Take MS drives use 2.5-inch enclosures full of MLC NAND flash chips and a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface to achieve transfer rates of up to 150 MB/s. The new drives are already starting to appear in European shops for 94.55, 149.17 and 270.06 Euro for the 32 GB, 64 GB, and the 128 GB models.
