ASUS today introduced the ROG Strix XG32VC gaming monitor. This 31.5-inch curved gaming monitor features an 1800R curvature, and offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) native resolution, using a VA panel. Adding to its gaming chops are 1 ms (MPRT) response time, 170 Hz refresh rate, DisplayHDR 400 compliance, ELMB Sync, and support for both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC (compatible). The panel offers 10 bpc color (1.07 billion colors), 178°/178° viewing angles, 400 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 3000:1 static contrast ratio. Display inputs include DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0, and USB-C.

Besides these, the ASUS ROG Strix XG32VC offers GamePlus, a collection of features that include an OSD crosshair, timers, FPS counter, and manual multi-display alignment; and GameVisual, a collection of display settings presets optimized for the various game genres. You also get TUV Rhineland-certified low blue-light output and flicker-free brightness adjustments. A unique feature with the XG32VC is an integrated KVM, which lets you share the display and input devices between two physically separate PCs. Just plug your input devices to the monitor's downstream USB ports, the upstream USB and display inputs to the two different PCs, the KVM handles the rest. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS today introduced the VA27AQSB, a 27-inch monitor for white-collar desktops that stay on for most of the day. This WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) monitor features TUV Rhineland-certified flicker-free technology (non-PWM method of LED backlit brightness adjustment), and blue light reduction technology, which both work toward reducing eye strain. It uses an IPS panel with 5 ms response time, 75 Hz refresh rate, 350 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1000:1 static contrast ratio, and 178°/178° viewing angles. The display supports both AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC (compatible). Display inputs include HDMI 1.4a and DisplayPort 1.2a. The stand allows height, tilt, and 90° rotation. The panel itself features VESA wall mounts, so you can take advantage of the thin bezels for multi-display rigs. 2 W stereo speakers, headset jack, and a 2-port USB 2.0 hub makes for the rest of its feature-set. MSI today rolled out the Optix G32CQ4, a 31.5-inch, 16:9 curved gaming monitor. Featuring a 1500R curvature, this monitor uses a VA panel with WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) native resolution, 1 ms (MPRT) response time, 165 Hz refresh rate, 178°/178° viewing angles, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium technology. Other vital panel specs include 3000:1 static contrast ratio with dynamic mega-contrast, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 91.43% coverage of DCI-P3. In the times of growing need for monitors with bigger size, improved connectivity and image quality, display specialist AOC announces the new P2 series monitors for professional users. Covering an extensive range of display sizes from 21.5" (54.7 cm), 23.8" (60.4 cm), 27" (68.6 cm) and ultra-wide 34" (86 cm), AOC acknowledges its users' distinct needs and individual setups. Except for the 34" ultrawide CU34P2A with its curved (1500R) VA panel, all other models are equipped with flat IPS panels. They ensure true-to-life colour reproduction, wide gamut coverage, and wide viewing angles (178/178°) perfectly suited for content creation and editing. Selected models (24P2C and 27P2C) with USB-C port provide an easier display, data and power connection to mobile devices with a single USB-C cable. The KVM switch included in these models allows the user to switch the keyboard and mouse between two PCs (connected via USB-C and USB hub uplink).

Boosting its gaming chops are 165 Hz refresh-rate, 1 ms (GTG) response time, ELMB (ASUS extreme low motion blur), and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification. The panel meets DisplayHDR 400 specs and supports HDR-10. Other vital panel specs include 178°/178° viewing angles, 3000:1 contrast ratio, and 125% sRGB / DCI-P3 92% color saturation.

The ROG Strix XG27WQ features ASUS' typical tripod base with an ROG logo projection, with height-, swivel-, and tilt adjustments. Display inputs include a DisplayPort 1.2a and two HDMI 2.0 ports. A 3.5 mm headphones jack puts out digital audio from the graphics card. There's also a 2-port USB 3.0 hub. Among the gamer-specific features are ASUS GamePlus suite, which includes hard crosshairs, timer, FPS counter, and display alignment; ASUS GameVisual, a set of game genre-specific display presets; and low blue-light mode. ASUS didn't reveal pricing.

If you overlook the fact that it uses a TN-film panel, the new AGON AG273QZ has some otherwise impressive specs relevant to gamers. This 27-inch monitor offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with staggering 0.5 ms response time, 240 Hz refresh-rate, support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and DispplayHDR 400 certification. The panel is mounted onto a stylish tripod stand, and comes with RGB LED embellishments behind. Other key panel specs include 170°/160° viewing-angles (H/V), 1000:1 static contrast ratio with dynamic mega-contrast, and a WLED backlight that uses a non-PWM method of dimming (flicker-free). Inputs include HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, from which you need at least DP1.2 HBR2 to support 1440p @ 240 Hz. The company didn't reveal pricing.

AOC launches the 35" (88.98 cm) AGON AG353UCG with 200 Hz refresh rate, 2 ms GtG response time, 3440 x 1440 UWQHD (21:9) resolution, VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate.

Its native 3440 x 1440 UWQHD (21:9) resolution combined with the 1800R curvature creates the next level of immersion. The AG353UCG's visuals pop thanks to Quantum Dot technology, 1000 nits peak brightness with VESA DisplayHDR 1000, 2500:1 contrast and 90% DCI-P3 coverage. Finally, the monitor supports Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate, offering HDR with 1000 nits brightness, at the same time eliminating stutter, tearing and reducing latency.

MSI today unveiled the Optix MAG272QR, a 27-inch fast gaming monitor. Slotted in the company's Arsenal Gaming family, the MAG272QR features a VA panel with WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, 165 Hz refresh-rate, 1 ms (GTG) response-time, AMD FreeSync support, and 95.6% DCI-P3 coverage. Other key panel specs include 10 bpc color (1.07 billion colors), 178°/178° viewing-angles, 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, and dynamic mega-contrast ratio, besides 3000:1 static contrast.

The Optix MAG272QR features a stand that lets you adjust height, 90° rotation to portrait mode, ±75° swivel, and 5-20° tilt. Behind the monitor are RGB LED embellishments that you control with MSI Mystic Light RGB app, and can also configure as mood-light. Display inputs include USB-C (DisplayPort TMDS passthrough), standard DisplayPort 1.2a, and two HDMI 2.0b inputs; all of which support the monitor's full 1440p resolution. Using HDMI 2.0b caps the refresh-rate to 144 Hz. Available now, the Optix MAG272QR is priced at USD $350.

Philips today introduced their latest productivity-geared monitor in the form of the 346B1C. The 34" panel is of the VA type, ensuring great viewing angles without any form of color degradation. The WQHD resolution of 3440 x 1440 means maximum resolution, which can be better put to use in the 21:9 curved format of the display, allowing you to seamlessly work across two different windows (like this news editor is doing right now, really). The 346B1C features a USB-C dock so that you can have a seamless workflow from your portable environment to the big screen. It also sports split-screen views and an integrated multi-client KVM switch, so two PCs can use the same monitor, keyboard and mouse.

There's Adaptive-Sync (which should add some gaming chops to the monitor), flicker-free tech and LowBlue Mode for comfort. The stand features support for 180º swivel, tilt, and height-adjustments, and there's VESA support (though that's a given nowadays). The Philips 346B1C will be available this November for £539.

BenQ today announced the release of the EX2780Q monitor, a 27" affair sporting a WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution across its 10-bit IPS matrix (95% DCI-P3 color space coverage). The monitor offers an 144 Hz refresh rate which, when paired with the usage of AMD's FreeSync, should enable smooth gaming scenarios - though the 5 ms GtG response time gives us a whole lot of pause. The resolution is a good compromise one between 1080p and 4K when it comes to graphics muscle requirements, and should thus make the 144 Hz refresh rates actually attainable in most scenarios (something that just wouldn't happen in a 4K screen).

One of the things about this monitor, however, is the inclusion of an "HDRi" badge, which simply denotes the usage of some of BenQ's proprietary technologies - Visual Edge, Black eQualizer and Color Vibrance - essentially auto-adjustable screen brightness, some sort of proprietary implementation of dynamic contrast, and automatic color balance adjustments. The EX2780Q includes a remote control that allows on-the-fly changes on some of the settings; and I/O is taken care of by 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort, 1x USB-C, and a headphone port. The sound system in this monitor has been upgraded compared to others - it offers a built-in 2.1 setup of treVolo speakers (2x2 watts + 5 watts subwoofer). Pricing stands at $599.

To begin with, you get WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with 165 Hz refresh-rate, 1 ms (GTG) response time, and support for NVIDIA G-Sync. It also packs TÜV Rheinland-certified blue light reduction technology that reduces eye fatigue from extended gameplay sessions. ASUS did not mention panel type, however, looking at its 170°/160° (H/V) viewing-angles, we guess it could be TN-film based. Inputs include DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Razer, the leading lifestyle brand for gamers, announced today its all-new 27-inch gaming monitor concept, the Razer Raptor. The desktop screen will be unveiled at CES 2019 as an early-design-phase model, with production units slated for release later this year. Razer Co-Founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan says, "Razer has worked alongside partners in the past to bring the Razer experience to monitors, but the full potential was never fully realized. We have decided to tackle this space on our own and are very excited to expand our presence to include desktop displays."

In yet another entry to LG's (still upcoming) UltraGear lineup of gaming monitors, the curtains have been shoved aside for the 27GL850G to make its first appearance. While49" and 38" monitors are all well and good, and LG does have the specs on them to make them attractive buying options, some users don't really like to have that big a black mirror in front of them. And that's where the 27" diagonal of the LG 27GL850G comes in handy.

The panel is of the Nano IPS type, with a 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution and support for a 160 Hz refresh rate (after overclocking, via the embedded OSD, from the native 144 Hz ). NVIDIA G-SYNC is present, supporting a variable refresh rate range of 30 - 160Hz. A 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles, and a flicker-free enhanced phosphor backlight round out the specs.It's expected that the 27GL850G, via its Nano IPS tech, covers ~98% DCI-P3 (~135%) color space. Red LED lighting is present on the back of the monitor. A VESA mount is present, and tilt, height and pivot adjustments are possible. 1x DP, 1x HDMI, 2x USB 3.0 ports (with fast-charging - plus 1x USB 3.0 upstream port), a 3.5mm headphone jack and DC power input (external power brick) are present as well.

LG at CES 2019 is set to announce two new monitors on its "Ultra" lineup, which includes the UltraWide and UltraGear product lines. The UltraWide is pretty self-explanatory, and will be populated by the 49WL95 monitor, a 49" IPS, dual QHD (5120 x 1440) resolution panel with a 32:9 aspect ratio (there's support for up to three PbP modes simultaneously, thus making this a triple monitor setup, should you so choose). 99% coverage of the sRGB color space ensures faithful color reproduction. There's also support for HDR10 content, though the typical brightness of the monitor stands at 350 nits (peak brightness not disclosed). Connectors stand at 1x USB-C, 2x HDMI 1x DP, and 4x USB 3.0.

The second monitor is on LGs UltraGear lineup. The 38GL950G features LG's Nano IPS technology and support for NVIDIA G-Sync and 144 Hz refresh rate. It has a 38" diagonal across a curved panel, a WQHD+ (3840 x 1600) resolution, and a more standard (or is that less wide?) 21:9 aspect ratio. A typical 450 nits brightness means this monitor also supports HDR content, and connectors include 1x HDMI, 1x DP, and 3x USB 3.0 (1 up / 2 down). If any of these monitor ticks your "I want it now" boxes, you might want to wait until CES for the actual announcement and availability info.

Acer has announced two incoming budget-yet-premium gaming monitors to power AMD's FreeSync-supporting graphics cards. The new XZ1 series will come in 27" (XZ271U) and 31.5" (XZ321QU), thus appealing to two different market segments. The new monitors both sport a 144 Hz, 1 ms, 16:9 VA panel with WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution. Both are curved affairs; contrast stands at 3000:1; color coverage is at 85% of the NTSC color-space; and we're saying they are HDR10 ready because with their maximum brightness of 250 and 300 cd/m², respectively, they'll never be able to showcase the tiniest amount of HDR10 detail. Like the initial HD ready TVs which only supported 720p resolution but could process higher-density images, so does this HDR10 badge not mean there's an actual ability to properly display HDR10 content as it was meant to be.

Connectivity stands at 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x mini DisplayPort 1.2, and 2x HDMI 2.0 headers. There are two 7 W stereo speakers and a headphone jack in each monitor, as well as a quad-port USB 3.0 Type-A hub. The stands can tilt between -5 to 25 degrees, swivel +/- 25 degrees, and provide height adjustments of up to 120 mm. Both panels can now be purchased at Amazon.com, with pricing set at $527 and $550 respectively (not final retail pricing for the Americas).

Acer at IFA 2018 today announced new monitors catering to both NVIDIA and AMD users - those who want to take advantage of either G-Sync or FreeSync capabilities in gamer-centric monitors, that is. As it stands, Acer has been using the Predator branding for its G-Sync enabled monitors, while the Nitro lineup stands on AMD's side. For NVIDIA, Acer is sticking its guns on the single XB273K - a $1,299 with G-Sync, 144 Hz refresh rates, and an IPS panel, running at 4K resolution. The Predator XB273K covers 90 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut, and is VESA DisplayHDR 400-certified. It also offers Acer's exclusive VisionCare technology to help your eyes manage long gaming sessions with technologies including flicker-free, low-dimming and blue light emission reduction. Oh - and it includes a shroud to protect your gaming feats from prying eyes.

The usage of a VA panel means this monitor is able to deliver up to 144 Hz refresh rates with a 1 ms response time and 178/178 viewing angles, while sRGB and NTSC coverage stand at 115% and 100%, respectively.

Another thing to note is the monitor's rated brightness: at 400 cd/m², it isn't the best we've seen, but at least it holds its maximum brightness honorably, without adding any HDR-capable gimmicks, even though it's much more capable of that than some other monitors that have been recently announced. One of the more interesting thinks about this monitor, however, is the inclusion of SteelSeries' Game Sense technology, which should allow the bottom bezel led strips to react to your gaming conditions, such as ammo count, health, and other factors. Additionally for gamers, there's support for Adaptive Sync tech to smooth out the frame-rate and avoid tearing.
