Ajazz is a curious little brand that seems to mostly specialize in 60–65% keyboards, at least if our own reviews of the Ajazz K620T 2.0 and Ajazz Zinc are anything to go by. The design scheme was such that I was this close to declaring the Epomaker B21 was made by Ajazz too, but that's an unresolved story for now. Epomaker is why all three of those reviews happened in the first place, and when they reached out to see if I could help cover a brand-new Ajazz offering, I had to know more. The product in question typically sells as a kit; however, Epomaker has assembled keyboards for sale. One of these very keyboards is here now, so thanks to Epomaker for arranging a review sample for TechPowerUp!
Look at the image above and see if you spot what is different. I suppose I already spoiled it with the title tagline, but this is a so-called 65% form factor that uses 64 keys in a footprint that is otherwise occupied by a 60% keyboard. Confused? Think of it this way—there are many who want to go as small as possible with keyboards for a variety of reasons, including ergonomics, having a smaller or crowded desk, or even more modding options at a smaller entry barrier. Regardless of the reason, having dedicated arrow keys seems to be the point where they usually stop, thus making 65% keyboards fairly popular in the enthusiast keyboard community. The aptly named Ajazz AC064 has 64 keys and goes with an even more custom layout on the right side to allow for arrow keys at the expensive of a few other things. This is a novel layout to me, one that's gaining popularity quickly in the East. I would personally call this a 60% keyboard myself, but will give Ajazz some leeway since it specifically calls it a 65% keyboard, including in the product name in some places. Let's go through the Ajazz AC064 in more detail in this review which begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
