Installation

To install the Eisbaer Extreme, you will need to prepare the CPU block for mounting by attaching the necessary brackets. With the CPU block ready, I attached the core of the unit (radiator, fans, pump, and reservoir) to the case.

With the radiator attached, it's time to put the backplate on the motherboard and apply thermal paste to the CPU. With this done, simply secure the CPU block in place. I will mention that it is best to be patient and take your time in doing so. The backplate has a tendency to push away when trying to secure the block; however, with some patience, it is nothing to worry about.

The last step is to plug everything in. However, due to the nature of our test bench and Alphacool's very short wires, I was unable to properly plug the system in. Thankfully, ModMyMods sent over 2x 50 cm Darkside PWM extensions, which allowed for the fans and pump to be connected to the proper motherboard fan headers. In most cases with the radiator up top, these short leads won't be a problem, but if you are mounting it in the front of a case or on the bottom, you will likely need to invest in some PWM cable extensions.

The Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme is relatively easy to install, and I would rate its installation a 7 on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest). Mounting the core of the unit is exceptionally easy. However, due to the short wires and the CPU block being a bit fiddly to install, some patience and planning is required. Keep that in mind and you will have nothing to worry about.
