dbPowerAmp
dBpoweramp is a very simple and well optimized for multitasking audio encoder with the support for most of the audio formats used today. For our benchmark a FLAC audio collection of 35 songs is converted via LAME mp3 audio codec, using CBR 320 kbs settings. Audio encoder results are measured in a way that time in seconds needed for converting the batch list is used as reference, and lowest score is the best.
ImToo Audio Encoder
One of the most popular commercial audio encoders, supporting almost every known audio format and with new revisions, multitasking support is greatly optimized. For our benchmark, same FLAC audio collection like with dBpoweramp is used, converted via LAME mp3 codec using 320 kbs setting. ImToo Audio Encoder supports a nifty feature, enabling user to set maximum number of running processes, or simply put, you can convert any number of audio files all at once. In this benchmark all 35 FLAC audio files are converted simultaneously, stressing out all of the available processor cores.
Unlike with previous two benchmarks, Windows Media Player encoder, free and commonly used to rip CD's, prefers less cores and faster core clocks... and more efficient architecture design of course. A mounted image of original 12 tracks audio CD is ripped to mp3 format with 320 kbs quality setting.
