x264 HD Benchmark v3.0
x264 HD Benchmark tests the processor's performance when converting a small 720p HD movie clip into a x264 file. It runs the encoding process four times with two passes on each encoding run and returns results in frames per second (FPS). Since video encoding is done in frames, higher frame rate translates in lower time needed to finish encoding, and in the results table you'll find average results of all eight encoding runs.
ImToo HD Video Converter
Popular commercial video encoder with support for great number of video formats, and for our needs a predefined MKV-Matroska preset is used to convert 1080p Transformers movie trailer in .mov container. MKV profile uses H.264/MPEG-4 AVC 1200K bitrate video codec and MP3 128kbs codec for audio. ImToo HD Video Converter can stress out three cores when encoding single audio file. In multithreading test a total of eight trailer copy's are converted in the same time, maximizing the multithreading workload. This part of test is new and is yet to be updated with Intel processors.
AVS Video Converter
Another simple and fast video encoder with wide support for video formats. This time, the same 1080p trailer is converted using Video for Facebook predefined preset, using H.264/AVC video codec and mp3 128 kbs for audio. Pretty much similar the same as with ImToo Video Converter, but this way we are able to rule out any situation where one application is preferring one processor platform over another, pointing out to wrong performance conclusions.
