Antec ISK 600M Review

The chassis looks very much like the original ISK 600. It has simply been enlarged to hold a mATX board instead. Given it is part of the ISK range, such an approach makes sense as the chassis targets DIY builders and system integrators.

One visual difference between the ISK 600 and the 600M is the lack of an LED strip in the front. Antec relocated the strip to the front's underside, so it will shine onto the surface the case is set upon. Look at the rear and it becomes apparent that Antec moved the PSU bay to the back of the case as there is now enough space to do so.

Both sides are part of the main cover and feature air vents in rather strategic positions. Unfortunately, there is no dust filter on either of these.

Antec also put the I/O into the front, and it consists of two audio plugs and a USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 plug. Antec should have gone with two USB 3.0 plugs and an adapter for USB 2.0 compatibility instead. The current configuration means you will essentially use plugs intended for four USB ports to power these properly. Next to the I/O are the Power and Reset buttons, identical in size. Take care not to hit the Reset button by mistake while turning your system off or moving it around. In the top is a simple, but functional slimline ODD bay. It obviously lacks an eject button as such a button will be a part of any drive you install there.

The bottom-mounted PSU bay in the rear comes with a single set of mounting holes, which will have the PSU pull air in through the case's underside. Next to that is the area for up to three 3.5" hard drives, which you may cool with an optional 80 mm fan. The top compartment is clearly reserved for the motherboard as the standard layout with four expansion slots and a 120 mm exhaust fan is the norm.

Tipping this case over reveals two sets of mounting holes for 2.5" HDDs and a dust filter you may pull out through the back for ease of cleaning.
