A Closer Look
The Apacer NOX RGB 3200 MHz cuts a large profile with a sizable white LED diffuser and contrasting matte black aluminium heat spreader.
The Apacer NOX RGB sticks have a black, stamped aluminium heat spreader with the center at an even width with the diffuser and the sides stamped in. The effect is to create an outline of a cut diamond where the top facets shine with RGB LEDs.
"Apacer" is on the center bottom of the heat spreader, and "NOX" is in the center of the light diffuser.
The specifications on the Apacer NOX RGB are quite good, featuring a 3200 MHz XMP profile at 16-18-18-38 1.35 V.
"Apacer" is also printed on top of the sticks so as to be more prominent in a finished build.
As the specifications would suggest, the sticks are double-sided. The only visible PCB marking on the Apacer NOX RGB is a tiny "288".
I like to weigh a stick from each kit I get as the difference in mass can be pretty drastic between kits. Mass is not the best indicator of cooling efficiency because material can matter, and of course, heat dissipation is reliant on surface area, not volume or mass. That said, it is still interesting to compare.
The Apacer NOX RGB 3200 MHz comes in at 50.47 g on my scale, which is pretty average. For height, though, the Apacer NOX RGB comes in at almost 52 mm with my calipers, which is well above average. Apacer's NOX RGB sticks are meant for flashy builds, not small form factor builds where cooler clearance is a large concern.
