Phantom Gaming LAN

The pride of the ASRock Phantom Gaming lineup is Phantom Gaming 2.5 Gigabit LAN, which is powered by a Dragon RTL8125AG chip from Realtek. Besides the obvious 2.5 times bandwidth increase, ASRock is offering the Phantom Gaming 2.5 Gb/s LAN utility. The software allows users a greater amount of fine control over network usage, as well as tools to optimize specific use cases, such as streaming or gaming.

Now, for whatever reason, this utility is not on the ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6 driver disk, neither is it listed on ASRock's support page for the ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6. This seems to be a simple oversight as the board is clearly listed as being compatible with the software. I did download the utility from the Z390 Phantom Gaming 9 product page, and it seems to work flawlessly with this motherboard.


In ASRock's own testing, simply installing the Phantom Gaming 2.5G LAN utility can increase transfer speeds by up to twenty-eight percent in synthetic tests. Enabling RX High Priority in the advanced settings of the utility can net up to an additional forty-six percent increase in performance.

Obviously, real world gains will be highly varied. However, the software is intuitive, and the hardware is a definite upgrade from Gigabit.
