Besides the obvious 2.5 times bandwidth increase, ASRock is offering the Phantom Gaming 2.5 Gb/s LAN utility. The software allows users a greater amount of fine control over network usage, as well as tools to optimize specific use cases, such as streaming or gaming.


In ASRock's own testing, simply installing the Phantom Gaming 2.5G LAN utility can increase transfer speeds by up to twenty-eight percent in synthetic tests. Enabling RX High Priority in the advanced settings of the utility can net up to an additional forty six percent increase in performance.
Obviously, real world gains will be highly varied; however, the software is intuitive, and the hardware is a definite upgrade from Gigabit.
