Final Thoughts and Conclusion

  • The ASRock Z590 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4 is available for US$289.99.
  • Good overclocking
  • Attractive aesthetics
  • Thunderbolt 4
  • Only 3 SATA ports
  • Rear I/O could use more USB
The ASRock Z590 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4 is an ITX board worthy of carrying on the legacy of the Phantom Gaming ITX line. With WiFi 6E, 2.5 Gb/s LAN, an integrated I/O shield, and Thunderbolt 4, all the feature boxes have been checked. I would have liked to see more USB on the rear I/O, though with Thunderbolt 4, there is always the option to add a dongle for more port options. Additionally, the SATA ports feel a little neglected with only three ports total and the third port in an awkward location. When it comes to looks, the ASRock Z590 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4 utilizes a neutral, easy to match aesthetic that still carries the distinct Phantom Gaming theme.

Out of the box, performance was excellent for the ASRock Z590 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4. Memory overclocking was very good as well, as I reached 4000 MHz CL16 stable with my Trident Z Neo kit for my 10th Gen sample and 3800 MHz on my 11th Gen sample. For CPU overclocking, I was able to achieve 5.1 GHz on all cores on my i9-10900K and i9-11900K. VRM thermals were very good as well, never exceeding 75 °C even during VRM torture testing. The stock VRM fan curve keeps noise output to a minimum, and even after disabling the fan, temperatures stayed at a very reasonable 80 °C.

The ASRock Z590 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4 is a reliable and performant ITX board with a few extras thrown in. If you are in the market for a Z590 ITX motherboard with Thunderbolt 4, the ASRock Z590 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4 is a great choice.
