Fan Control and Options

Fan speed is controlled by temperature, actual minimums dependent on fan ability.

The ASUS MAXIMUS IX CODE has no less than eight fan headers that are complimented by some of the best fan-control software in the industry.


The fan headers are spread near perfectly across the board, with two along the bottom edge, one just below the SATA ports, two just behind the rear I/O, two above and to the right of the CPU socket, and one in the top-right corner. The overall setup of the headers is identical to that on the MAXIMUS IX FORMULA, this board sibling, featuring a High AMP header in the top-right that has user-adjustable fan curves and one along the bottom's edge that is nonadjustable. Both of those are designed for water pumps and are capable of 36 W max output.


Fan control can be handled from within the BIOS with QFan control or in Windows with Fan Expert 4. Fan Expert 4 is part of the DUAL Intelligent Processor 5 software.
