The fans are controlled by an ASUS-branded chip labeled "TPU."
Fan control on the ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero can be accessed in the BIOS or through Fan Xpert4 in Windows.
The ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero has a total of seven main fan headers; four along the top edge of the board above the DIMM slots and three more below the lowest PCIe slot. The two extra fan headers on the bottom far right are reversed for watercooling.
