The ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II achieves a good balance of features, performance, and price. When it comes to looks, the ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II has that classic STRIX aesthetic featuring a great RGB implementation as well as a design that is mostly neutral, with a flair of red and white accents.
Out of the box, performance was very good for the ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II. Memory overclocking was good as well, as I reached 4000 MHz CL16 stable with my Trident Z Neo kit, though it was not able to boot into Windows with tightened timings. For CPU overclocking, I was able to achieve 4.425 GHz on all cores. This isn't the best result I have seen with this CPU, but it is still quite good for the price.
While the ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II does technically use a 4-phase Vcore VRM that is using discrete MOSFETS instead of more sophisticated smart power stages, you would be hard pressed to notice the difference in most use cases. VRM thermals were very good, barely exceeding 60 °C during even my VRM torture testing. ASUS has a lot of experience with this style of VRM design and knows how to design around any potential drawbacks.
The ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II is a well-balanced board that makes sensible trade-offs in features for a lower price tag. If you are in the market for a Ryzen 5000 AM4 motherboard that doesn't break the bank, the ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II is a great place to start looking.
