The following graph shows the overall performance of the NAS in all tests we conducted using our custom-made software.
Performance was very high in all configurations, and data encryption only slowed transfer speeds in our single-disk tests down. But we expected no less since Intel's i3 processor includes a hardware-encryption engine.
Let us now compare the AS7004T's performance to that of other NAS devices.
We expected the NAS to produce overall transfer speeds closer to 200 MB/s with multiple clients. We suspect the ADM be the limiting factor since the hardware is pretty strong.
Several screenshots of ADM's resource monitor app show how strongly the NAS was taxed during our multiclient tests. More available memory would increase the amount of cached memory, which would probably speed up transfers with multiple clients. Asustor unfortunately didn't send us an extra memory module with which to run our multiclient tests with more RAM in order to figure whether the 2 GB of memory slowed things down in comparison to the competition.
