Value and Conclusion

  • The 16 GB (1x 16 GB) Ballistix Sport AT kit is available for US$106.99.
  • Good performance
  • Small overall package
  • Impressive overclocking
  • Part of an easily matched theme
  • Black and yellow won't suit everyone
  • No RGB LED
  • No timing information on external packaging
The Ballistix Sport AT is an attractive kit, and the TUF Gaming Alliance branding has a pretty wide reach. Black and yellow certainly isn't for everyone, but if you already have other TUF Gaming Alliance hardware, this kit will match very well. Additionally, the Ballistix Sport AT features a particularly compact profile that will make it an attractive option for those who are worried about cooler clearances. The lack of RGB LEDs can be a pro or a con depending on who you ask, but despite the fact that I am usually in favor of customizable lighting, I did not miss it on this kit.

Looks aside, the Ballistix Sport AT performed well in my testing, though I would like to see what two can do in a dual-channel configuration. I was able to reach the rated XMP speeds and timings by simply activating XMP in the BIOS of my ASRock Z390 Taichi, and I experienced absolutely no stability issues whatsoever in my testing.

Overclocking went better than I expected. Typically, higher density memory won't clock as high as there are more potential points of failure. The Ballistix Sport AT reached 3800 MHz without increasing any voltages, which is a very impressive feat. Even better, the stick proved to be capable of the coveted 3200 MHz CL14 with some reasonable voltage increases.

The Ballistix Sport AT is a compact, attractive, and affordable kit. While I would never recommend running single channel memory, the Ballistix Sport AT has proven itself to be a capable, compact kit I would highly recommend (just make sure you get a dual channel version).
