Installation
When it comes to installing the be quiet! Pure Rock, the first thing you will need to do is prepare the backplate. Start by putting the four backplate screws into their proper notches for your socket. Now, use the rubber o-rings to hold them in place. Once done, place the backplate on the motherboard.
Now, use the studs or screw pillars to secure the backplate to the motherboard and place the mounting arms onto the studs. Make sure to screw those mounting arms down tightly. Once that is done, apply some thermal paste in preparation for mounting the heatsink.
With the thermal paste applied, place the crossbar onto the heatsink's base and line the cooler and crossbar up with the CPU and the two holes on the mounting arms. Screw the crossbar down to secure the heatsink once everything has been lined up properly.
All that is left is to do now is to attach the fan before plugging it into the CPU fan header; that's it—the be quiet! Pure Rock is good to go!
The mounting hardware be quiet! provides works well and is an improvement over the mounting hardware for the Dark Rock 3 because it is easier to use. Overall, I would rate the installation procedure for an average user a 9 on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest).
