Be Quiet! Straight Power E8 400 W Review

Packaging

A black cardboard package protects the unit. On the front it features a photo of the PSU and the capacity is highlighted in big white fonts. The 80 Plus Bronze badge, located on the bottom right edge, is barely noticeable due to its small size. On the rear side of the box we get more information like cable length and available connectors, power specifications, unit dimensions etc.

Contents

The internals of the package are neatly arranged and the PSU is protected by bubble wrap. Besides the unit inside the box you will find an AC power cord, two Velcro ties, some zip ties, a set of fixing bolts, a user's manual and a leaflet about Be Quiet's Silentwing fans. Pretty decent bundle for a PSU in this price range.

Exterior

The small PSU features a black coating finish. On one of its sides the "be quiet!" logo is stamped into the casing while on the opposite the power specifications label is placed. Without any doubt the most impressive piece of the unit are the spaceship-looking fan grills. According to Be Quiet! these grills minimize air turbulence and thus reduce noise. Without any solid proof we take this statement with a grain of salt, but we admit that they look fabulous! Finally the cable exit hole is equipped with a plastic grommet and all cables are fully sleeved back into the housing. In general the external workmanship is quite high, especially for the unit's price tag.
