CaseLabs ships the Merlin SM8 in an extremely sturdy, plain cardboard box. The chassis itself is only protected by resilient corner pieces out of foam which can, unlike Styrofoam, survive a drop without breaking. These are then quite sufficient because of the tough outer shell. A heavy-duty, clear plastic bag has been applied to protect the chassis from scratches and fingerprints. It is by far the thickest one I have seen ship with a chassis so far.

CaseLabs includes a wide array of parts, allowing you fill the chassis to the rim. I also received an additional bag labeled "spare parts", which I thought was pretty cool.
