On-device Settings

The on-device customization on the M64 Pro works in the same way as on the Xtrfy M4 Wireless, M42 Wireless, M8 Wireless, and MZ1 Wireless. The concept is simple: Adjustments are made either through button combinations or the button on the bottom of the mouse, the function of which varies depending on the current position of the slider on the bottom. If set to the highest position, the mouse will be turned off unless plugged in. Any other position will turn the mouse on. The next position allows one to cycle through the preset CPI steps. The third position enables cycling through the available polling rates (125, 250, 500, or 1000 Hz in wired operation, with 4000 and 8000 Hz being exclusive to wireless operation). Lastly, with the slider moved all the way to the bottom, main button debounce time (2, 4, 8, or 12 ms) can be cycled through. My testing suggests that this has no effect whatsoever and thus can be considered a legacy setting. Irrespective of the current slider position, various button combinations allow adjusting MotionSync (on/off), lift-off distance (1/2 mm), and sensor run mode (Pro Gaming Mode, Standard Gaming Mode, or Low Power Mode), though the latter selection will be restricted depending on connectivity and set polling rate.

Battery Life

CHERRY XTRFY states a maximum battery life of up to 90 hours at a polling rate of 1000 Hz and using Standard Gaming Mode. As the M64 Pro lacks software, one could assume that checking the battery charge status is impossible, but that is not the case. Instead, by holding the side buttons and left main button for a few seconds, the current charge status will be displayed in a corresponding color, in steps of 25%. Of course, this isn't granular enough to gauge anything, but at least gives one an idea of when charging may be needed.

Using the included USB Type-A to Type-C charging cable, I measured the charging speed during the constant current stage, which sits at around 0.284 A when lifted and 0.256 A when not lifted. The battery has a capacity of 350 mAh and utilizes a 3-pin JST connector.
