Chieftec A135 450W 80+ Power Supply

Chieftec was kind enough to supply us with a power supply as well. The A135 series comes in 350W, 400W, 450W, 500W or 550W flavors and features a great price/performance ratio. The unit ships in a full color box as well. As you can see the A135 is 80 Plus certified, utilizes a large 135 mm fan and also has a single 6-pin PCI-E connector. Our sample is the 450W version, which is certainly strong enough for any HTPC.


Inside the package is a simple manual in multiple languages and the mandatory power cable and case screw combination.


Chieftec has kept the unit in the traditional grey color and has only sleeved the main 24 pin ATX cable. This keeps the cost of the unit to a minimum and let's be honest, everyone prefers solid performance and silent operation over some fancy coloring. The rear of the PSU is perforated to allow air flow out of the unit.

The cables of the A135 are fairly short, so you may want to take a look at Chieftec's other offerings if you are using a full tower case. But the short cables are perfect for midi towers or HTPCs like the Hi-Fi HM-02B.
