Software

The MM711 is compatible with Cooler Master's "MasterPlus" software. All available options are accessible through five different tabs. The first tab houses the remapping function, which allows one to map all but the CPI button to mouse, keyboard, media, and macro keys. The second tab includes the lighting settings. On the third tab, all the performance-related settings are accessible. CPI adjustment is possible from 200–32,000 CPI, in increments of 100 (the tooltip erroneously states 200) and for up to seven levels, which may also be disabled individually. The restriction to increments of 100 is a bit unfortunate as the 3389 would be fully capable of increments of 50. Furthermore, x- and y-sensitivity can be adjusted separately. Any CPI beyond 16,000 will be interpolated as the 3389 is only capable of up to 16,000 CPI natively. Furthermore, polling rate (125/250/500/1000 Hz), angle snapping (on/off), LOD (low/high), and "button respond [sic] time" (click latency, 4-32 ms) can be configured. Additionally, it is possible to set up an angle correction of up to 30°, which is a rather rare and unique option. The fourth and fifth tab include macro and profile management, respectively. On my system, the software had a RAM footprint of 53 MB on average. Notably, when exiting the software, the application is actually terminated instead of merely minimized.

Lighting

The MM711 has two zones for RGB lighting, which are the scroll wheel and the non-logo at the back. Using the "Customize" feature, these two zones can be operated independently. Through the software, it is possible to select from among four available pre-defined lighting effects. These are Color Cycle (default), Breathing (single color fade-in fade-out), Static (permanent single color), and Indicator (visually indicates the currently set CPI level). Said visual indication is also present on other lighting effects when changing the CPI level. It's possible to set custom colors and adjust brightness and transition speed. Of course, the RGB lighting can be turned off entirely as well.

Color accuracy and vibrancy are excellent throughout. Here's a short demonstration video of the "Cycle" and "Breathing" lighting effects:
