Introduction
Cooler Master enters the busy 27-inch OLED gaming monitor market with the Tempest GZ2711, their first OLED monitor. This is only the fourth addition to the Tempest lineup, with the other three models featuring high-end Quantum Dot IPS, VA panels and Mini-LED backlight units. We
reviewed and sang praises to the Tempest GP27Q, a 27-inch gaming monitor which is still very much relevant, so do feel free to check that review out to freshen up on Cooler Master's gaming monitor offerings. Or stick around and learn about the Tempest GZ2711, in some ways the company's most ambitious monitor to date.
First and foremost, the Tempest GZ2711 is not to be mistaken with the
Tempest GP2711, a visually similar but technically very different monitor, equipped with a 27-inch 165 Hz Quantum Dot VA panel and a Mini-LED backlight system. The Tempest GZ2711 offers the same 2,560 x 1,440 native resolution, but boosts the refresh rate to 240 Hz and uses LG Display's WOLED panel, which we already know (and quite like!) from monitors such as the Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 (
reviewed here), KTC OLED G27P6 (
reviewed here), Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM, AOC Agon Pro AG276QZD, Acer Predator X27U, LG 27GR95QE, and Koorui 27E8QK. While we already sort of know what to expect from the said OLED panel, it will be interesting to examine how well Cooler Master implemented it and what twist they offer compared to the stiff competition. Having set the price of the Tempest GZ2711 to $900, Cooler Master obviously isn't attempting to be the cheapest of the bunch, making its task of standing out that much more challenging.
