Cooler Master V Series 650 W Review

A Look Inside & Component Analysis »

Packaging

At the front of the small box are a photo of the PSU, a model description, and a series of icons for the exclusive use of Japanese caps, five-year warranty, 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, and Silencio FP fan.

On one of two sides are a technical specifications table and the unit's power specifications.

On the back are the fan-speed and efficiency curves and a description of all connectors.

Contents

Inside the box, the PSU is well protected by packing foam. It is also inside a nice cloth bag.

The bundle includes several zip ties, a set of fixing bolts, the user's manual, and a nylon pouch.

Exterior

The silver frame around the fan grille helps the most with making this unit look appealing since the rest of its design is rather plain. There is a typical honeycomb-style exhaust grille at the front, and the small power switch is below the AC receptacle. We would prefer it if it were on the receptacle's side instead.

Decals on both sides depict the model number, while the large power specifications label is on the PSU's bottom.

The modular panel includes more sockets than there are provided cables. You can purchase two additional PCIe cables or a PCIe and an EPS cable to increase connectivity, but Cooler Master should have included those cables as a part of this PSU's bundle.

This unit is really small and its semi-matte finish is of good quality.

Cables

All cables are flat and all-black, and contrary to the V550 where the connectors on both sides had a really tight fit, those with the V650 do not, although the 24-pin connector on the PSU's side required a little more force than it should before it attached properly.
