Value and Conclusion
- The Cooler Master Xport 251 will set you back around 18 Euros, which puts it right into the frey of 2.5 inch, SATA based USB 2.0 enclosures out there. One should, however, consider the added value of the included pouch.
- Adequate pricing
- Very slim and compact
- Rubber spacers to protect drive
- Excellent read performance
- Very good write speed
- Dual USB header cable included
- Pouch is perfect and only adds minimal size to the enclosure
- Easy installation
- Available in black or silver
- Sandblasted aluminum shell
- Other, similar enclosures from known brand names sell for 10 €
- There are even smaller enclosures out there - the Vantec NexStar TX for example
- Ugly white sticker on side
The Cooler Master XPort 251 is a great little enclosure. It is compact and very well constructed. But, the fact that there are so many other, similar enclosures out there with very similar traits at almost half the price the Xport 251 may never get noticed by those wanting an affordable and small case for their hard drive. The added pouch is a nice touch, but it does add a few Euros/US Dollars to the final retail price. While the Xport 251 is very small, there are definitely smaller enclosures out there as well. So the Cooler Master Xport 251 works and it works well, but does not stand out in any way. Sure some may say that the pouch is a unique accessory, but since you are clearly paying the extra premium for it, one should not take it into consideration unless it is explicitly wanted or needed. The fact remains, that you cannot go wrong with the Cooler Master Xport 251, but you may be able to save yourself a few bucks with any of the many alternatives out there.
