Corsair's new Builder CX430 V2 power supply really impressed me. At first, when I saw that Corsair rated it for full power only at 30°C, I was troubled and thought that my 50°C hot box would really give it a hard time. However I was dead wrong, the PSU not only worked at over 50°C ambient but performed really well, especially if we take into account that it belongs to the low end category. Voltage regulation was close to 2% for +12V & 5V and 3.3V exceeded 3% only by very little. I have seen much more expensive PSUs with way worse voltage regulation, especially at 3.3V. On top of that efficiency was decent overall and high enough at loads below 90W; ripple/noise suppression was excellent, too. Even in the very tough Advanced Transient Response tests the PSU managed its +12V and +5V rails very well. The bad performance of 3.3V in the same tests couldn't spoil the excellent impression this unit had already made.
For users on a limited budget and for office or download PCs this PSU is ideal. Its price, taking into account the performance levels it offers, is a steal. On top of that it comes with fully sleeved cables and is backed by a three year warranty. If only it had two PCIe connectors and two more peripheral ones. Especially the single 6+2 pin PCIe connector looks odd and significantly restricts the usability of the unit.
