The Corsair HS70 Bluetooth is the third and final update to the award-winning HS gaming headset family, at least for this year. Compared to the recently released HS60 HAPTIC (
reviewed here) and HS75 XB Wireless (
reviewed here), it's less expensive, coming in at $100, but it's also by far the most versatile of the three.
In terms of build quality, wearing comfort, and sound performance, the Corsair HS70 Bluetooth is almost exactly the same as other headsets in the HS lineup. Meaning, it looks and feels great—you can wear it for many hours without any hints of discomfort, and it has a fun, bass-heavy, warmish sound signature. What separates it from the pack is its versatility. Sure, you can think of the Corsair HS70 Bluetooth as a Bluetooth headset, but it's much more than that as it also offers USB and analogue 3.5-mm connectivity.
What's even better, the wired connectivity can be used simultaneously with Bluetooth, which gives you a ton of interesting options. For example, you can use the HS70 Bluetooth as a USB gaming headset for your PC that is also wirelessly connected to your phone and ready to take incoming calls. Or you can use its analogue connection with your gaming console while utilizing the Bluetooth connection with your phone for Discord chat. Its microphone is perfectly usable in all operating modes, although it does become somewhat compressed and less clean in Bluetooth mode.
Although this is definitely not a headset for purists because of its colored sound signature, bass heads and most gamers will love its bass-heavy reproduction. It's only mediocre in terms of spatial awareness at its default setting. Luckily, that can be improved upon by switching to a more appropriate sound profile, like "FPS Competition," manually adjusting the 10-band equalizer in iCUE software driver, or switching to Windows Sonic for Headphones virtual surround sound.
As a whole, the Corsair HS70 Bluetooth is the most complete and quite possibly best gaming headset in the entire HS lineup. It's also currently one of the most interesting choices in the $100 price bracket.
