So does the Corsair SF750 really present itself as small flagship PSU? Yes, it definitely does. Without even considering its smaller SFX form factor, its performance confirms—this is a high end 750 W 80 Plus Platinum power supply. Nevertheless, there's a cost involved, quite literally in this instance. Paying $180 for a 750 W unit is significant, as is $200 for the 850 W and $230 for the 1000 W versions. Although these prices aren't excessively high and are comparable to competitors with similar features, they can add up, especially when considering niche scenarios and more compact cooling solutions for GPUs in small form factor PCs.
As for the actual performance, the SF750 really delivers well in several key areas. Its voltage regulation for not only the +12 V, but also the +5 V and +3.3 V rails is rock solid even at maximum loads. The fact that the combined minor rail output is rated for a hefty 130 W, but even at the overload test we only used 62 W might have also helped. Also, the efficiency levels from the 20 % load test all the way to 100 % load test maintain a very stable and high efficiency. The noise level of the unit surpassed expectations. Despite being compact with a smaller fan, it remains nearly silent until the final load tests. In a real world situation the CPU and GPU fans would be much more audible while at load.
At the same time, there are also areas where the SF750 could have performed better. Those are namely efficiency and power factor correction at the very lowest loads. While not bad in general, perhaps the expectations were a bit higher based on the experiences with other similarly specced units. On the practical side of things, while the short cables can't really be mentioned as a shortcoming (that's by design), their flexibility could be better, allowing for easier installation. And while it doesn't seem fair to mention a very generous 7-year warranty as a "downside," recently we have been spoiled by a lot of vendors offering 10 or even 12-year warranties for products of similar caliber.
All in all, the Corsair SF750 is a very good PSU in general and a superb option for SFF PC builders, supporting the latest ATX 3.1 standard, delivering great efficiency, solid voltage regulation and silent operation, even in challenging conditions. At $180 it is not overly expensive compared to the competition and definitely deserves a recommendation.
