Packaging
Crucial's drive comes in a reasonably sized generic package that does the job of protecting the SSD during shipping. The back has some technical detail, the included installation manual is a nice treat to guide less experienced users.

The Drive
The drive conforms to the dimensions set forth by the 2.5" form factor. Unlike many other SSDs, the Crucial RealSSD C300 comes in a rugged metal casing that feels solid and high quality.
At this time the RealSSD C300 is the only SSD that supports the new SATA 6 Gb/s standard. It is also backwards compatible to SATA II and SATA I.
Crucial is using 16 flash chips, the flash controller and a DRAM chip in their design.
A 128 MB Micron D9LGQ DDR chip serves as memory for the SSD controller to cache transactions and often used data.
Marvell's 88SS9174-BJP2 is used as controller - a welcome change from all the SandForce hype out there.
The flash chips are made by Micron and have a capacity of 8 GB each.
