LETSHUOER made an impressive debut on TechPowerUp with the EJ07M tribrid IEMs and then again with the extremely successful S12 planar IEMs that have since resulted in a collaboration Z12 version as well as a "Pro" version. Even before the S12 was announced however, LETSHUOER got in touch with me to see whether I would be interested in doing a CIEM (custom IEM) article, featuring the EJ07M that I clearly liked. I was certainly intrigued by the idea of having custom fitted and designed IEMs, and the entire journey involved, so I said yes.
Little did I know however that between COVID and mail services being terrible at their job, this article would be delayed by several months! Somehow things worked out to where I have a nice tale to talk about and it is one that potential CIEM customers should read. It's a tale that starts and ends well as clearly depicted by the photo above comparing the EJ07M UIEMs (universal-fit IEMs) to my CIEMs. I will also note here that CIEMs can come in either offering a custom design with a universal fit for purely aesthetics or going the whole shebang with a custom fit that is based on your specific ear size and shape. I went the latter route as most people purchasing CIEMs tend to do, given it allows for the best possible fit with excellent comfort when done right. As such, the first step involves obtaining ear impressions which I will talk more about in the next page.
