A Closer Look - Inside

To gain access to the interior, simply remove the thumbscrews holding each side panel in place. The liquid-cooling block is packaged separately to keep it from damaging the chassis during shipping. The angled divide is most likely the most unusual aspect at first sight. Turning the chassis around, you can see where the PSU is to be installed underneath the shroud. Here, you will also find four placement opportunities for 2.5" drives, which puts them out of the sight of onlookers as they peer through the window.

The shroud not only covers the PSU bay, but also the two 3.5" drive bays. There are some openings, however, so that you may show off the power supply's specifications, for example.

The angled divider at the front allows for part of it to be removed.

Unfortunately, it is not held in place by screws, so you may not put it back in once it has been broken out. Behind this divider is a large air vent for up to two 120 mm fans. The vent's shape may even allow for a 180 mm or 200 mm unit there, but I am sure there is a reason for Deepcool to exclude official compatibility with any such units. As such, I would ask you to take my statement above with a large grain of salt. Lastly, you will find the hard-drive cage for 3.5" drives here. It does not come with any trays, so you have to remove it to install your drives. This brings the number of drives you may install to six, which should be enough for most users these days.

Turing our attention to the inner rear of the Genome, the top holds a simple black fan with a 3-pin header. Below that are the 7+2 expansion slots, each protected by its own reusable cover that is held in place by a thumbscrew. In the bottom, underneath the shroud, is the PSU bay with enough space to accommodate a large capacity PSU. Four rubber domes help dampen vibrations eminating from this part of an assembled system.

As mentioned previously, there is a bracket that allows you to install a GPU vertically with the use of a ribbon cable. Deepcool has also tooled the shroud so that it has a mounting position for a PCIe x16 slot.

All the cables within the Deepcool Gamer Storm Genome are of the default variety, with black connectors and sleeving to go with the rest of the chassis.

As the case comes equipped with the Deepcool Captain 360, which we reviewed here, a quick look at the block and radiator confirms that it is essentially an identical unit within the Genome.
