Introduction

BioWare are back, delivering their first new game since the maligned Anthem. Being the fourth entry in the series, "Dragon Age: The Veilguard" is an action RPG with a heavy emphasis on action, in which you are tasked to defend Thedas against impending doom that reaches its arms from the world's distant past.

The Veilguard features a ton of action, boatloads of quests, impressive-looking environments, a massive cast of supportive characters, in-depth character progression, hours of dialogue, and a choice-driven main quest taking you across Thedas.

BioWare built "Dragon Age: The Veilguard" with Dice's Frostbite engine, which is fully DX12 compliant, features ray tracing, includes all the major upscaling solutions, and supports frame generation in the form of DLSS Frame Generation.

Our performance review of Dragon Age: The Veilguard will examine how the game runs on both the Steam Deck LCD and ASUS ROG Ally, including an analysis of optimized settings for each device, as well as a look at the out-of-the-box experience on both Windows and SteamOS.
