Packaging and Accessories

Ducky enjoys a larger, global retail channel, but continues to entertain direct purchases. This specific review sample came directly from them, and we see a colorful packaging for the product that is in line with the rest of their One 2 series of keyboards. There is the company logo and name on front with colors to match and the product name in the bottom-right corner. This trend continues on the back and the sides, where we see more specific information, including the switch and model number to verify you are getting what you ordered before opening the box.

Two double flaps on the side keep the contents inside in place during transit. Opening the box, we see the keyboard itself wrapped up snugly with cardboard all around for protection. Underneath the keyboard is the first set of accessories, which includes a warranty card as well as a user manual in several languages. The latter half of the manual covers English speakers such as I, and I strongly recommend going through it to better understand any available onboard controls. For those who need it, an online version is available in the download section of the product page. The other accessories are found in the cardboard compartments above the keyboard.

These other accessories include a nice wire keycap puller, which is preferred over a plastic ring puller because it does not scratch the sides of keycaps and can be used to remove multiple keycaps without removing them one at a time. There is also a detachable black 5' cable. It terminates in a gold-plated USB Type-C connector on one end and a USB Type-A connector on the other, which hints at the use of Type-C connectivity on the keyboard itself. We also get a set of replacement keycaps, which thus maintains the 100% record of every Ducky keyboard I have checked out to date coming with replacement keycaps.

As with the Ducky One 2 Skyline we saw last year, we get ten colored keycaps that match the design philosophy of the One 2 series. This time, the keycaps are pink to go with the pink enter key in the default configuration, but we still have some extra keycaps included that do not fit the 65% form factor One 2 SF. Pink PBT replacement keycaps are included for the arrow keys, backspace, both enter keys (only one on this keyboard), and the Esc key (or any R1 key) in different variations. The thick PBT with an average wall thickness of 1.39 mm and doubleshot injected legends gives these a solid feel. Not a lot of backlighting goes through the pink base layer, however, with minimal side lighting at most, which means these are best used for aesthetics as is, and that is also where the eleventh included keycap comes in. 2019 is the Year of the Pig as per the Chinese zodiac calendar, so Ducky has also included a special edition ABS-plastic space bar with this in mind.
