Nighttime Performance

Naturally, at night, the Emotn N1 manages to flex its muscles a bit better without having to fight the surrounding illumination of an external light source. Running Netflix or Youtube works just fine and the colors are far more pungent, but the brightness is clearly lower than that of other units out there.

In the dark, the shots from the Top Gun: Maverick trailer manages to deliver a much more saturated color experience, with a wider range from dark to bright as you can see by the chair in the background which is now clearly visible. However, the base brightness prohibits the Emotn N1 from revealing the deck crew in the jet elevator scene regardless.

The same trend continues with games as well as one of the latest Unity demo videos. Blacks don't have the luminance to provide any details in the dark areas and another scene of Rick & Morty still feels a bit more muted than it should. Lastly, in terms of fan noise, the Emotn N1 isn't overly loud, which is good as the built-in speakers don't manage to provide the depth and range we have seen from other units out there.
