Ripple Measurements
In the following table you will find the ripple levels that we measured on the main rails of ERV850EWT-G. According to ATX specification the limits are 120 mV (+12V) and 50 mV (5V, 3.3V and 5VSB).
Ripple Measurements Enermax ERV850EWT-G |
---|
Test | 12 V | 5 V | 3.3 V | 5VSB | Pass/Fail |
20% Load | 18.1 mV | 11.9 mV | 18.2 mV | 13.9 mV | Pass |
40% Load | 28.8 mV | 15.6 mV | 20.8 mV | 15.4 mV | Pass |
50% Load | 30.1 mV | 17.4 mV | 22.1 mV | 19.1 mV | Pass |
60% Load | 32.3 mV | 18.4 mV | 23.0 mV | 22.0 mV | Pass |
80% Load | 38.2 mV | 20.3 mV | 24.4 mV | 22.5 mV | Pass |
100% Load | 44.8 mV | 22.3 mV | 25.7 mV | 26.1 mV | Pass |
Crossload 1 | 30.9 mV | 14.6 mV | 19.9 mV | 13.5 mV | Pass |
Crossload 2 | 38.5 mV | 18.1 mV | 19.3 mV | 23.6 mV | Pass |
Ripple suppression is decent but still isn't up to the level we expected from a high-end unit. The +12V rail at worst case registers 45mV while the minor rails are close to half their limit. Overall the DC output quality of this PSU is good, but still needs work to reach the corresponding of Delta, Seasonic and Super Flower units.
Ripple at Full Load
In the following oscilloscope screenshots you can see the AC ripple and noise that the main rails registered (+12V, 5V, 3.3V and 5VSB). The bigger the fluctuations on the oscilloscope's screen the bigger the ripple/noise. For all measurements we set 0.01 V/Div (each vertical division/box equals to 0.01V) as standard.
