The Liqtech 240 from Enermax manages to put up a good showing in the increasingly crowded AIO liquid-cooling market. It offers exceptional performance very close to that of the Corsair Hydro Series H105, which is nothing to sneeze at. This is especially true considering Enermax's cooler uses a 27 mm thick radiator as opposed to the Corsair's 38 mm. Enermax also offers something the Corsair H105 lacks: adjustable peak-speed (APS) control on the fans, which allows users to set a PWM profile for the Liqtech 240 that matches their needs, be it quiet (1300 RPM), high performance (2500 RPM), or balanced (2000 RPM). Its unique appearance and easy-to-work with mounting hardware leaves a good impression as well. Not only is it easy to install, but it also looks good because of its uniquely designed pump top and radiator. The blue LED will also add a bit of flair for those that enjoy adding lighting elements to their rigs. The packaging is also good, so you want have to worry about the unit arriving banged up unless it gets used in a game of football.
The only real cons are the price and noise levels. $109.99 at retail, this unit is an enthusiast-class product, and it does manage to beat out all the air coolers on the market. Only all-in-one liquid coolers truly offer the same level of performance. However, while it does offer outstanding performance at maximum fan speed, dropping noise levels with the APS system also results in a loss of performance. Something like CRYORIG's R1 Universal offers similar performance, costs less, and is quieter than the Liqtech 240's Balanced or Quiet profiles. As such, if pure performance is your thing, Enermax's delivers, but other options are viable if you want truly quiet performance. Yet the blue LED, which I feel offers a nice bit of flair, may not be for everyone, and its color is especially baffling as the cooler's anti-vibration strips are red. It seems as though someone forgot to color coordinate the overall design. That and it, like other all-in-one liquid cooler, lacks the ability to be expanded upon. The warranty of just two years also feels short compared to what some of the competition offers.
Overall, I am impressed by Enermax's effort and attention to detail with the Liqtech 240. The ability to change the fans' PWM profile is a welcome addition, and so are the anti-vibration strips on the radiator. The company even made the entire system look slightly unique to set it apart. While all this is great if you want silent high-end cooling, it might be worth looking at high-end air coolers instead.
The Liqtech 240 by Enermax ultimately proves to be a great performer with unique looks. It even packs some nifty features to stand out from the crowd.
