Eurocom Monster 4 (GTX970M) Review

A Closer Look

The Eurocom Monster 4 has a black exterior with silver accents, which makes for a clean look. On the right side, users will find 2x USB 3.0 ports, a RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port, the Kensington lock, and a 6 in 1 card reader. The left side has 2x mini Displayports, 1x HDMI, 2x USB 3.0 ports, the microphone and headphone jack, and 1x S/PDIF (digital) jack.

Directly center on the back is the DC in for power. I myself prefer this over the more typical side-mounted power ports. Other than that, the back also features two exhaust vents. Flipping the unit over, there are two air intakes for the two cooling fans inside the laptop. Four large rubber feet keep the unit in place and make room for air circulation when in use.

Taking a closer look, the keyboard does feature accented back lighting, while it does help illuminate the keyboard quite nicely the font on the keycaps are not individually backlit. The layout features 86 keys, while MSI's keyboard features 102 keys, this drop in usable keys is due to limitations in space. The Eurocom Monster 4 is only missing the number pad in order to get everything to fit neatly. A single power button has been placed between the two speakers. When it comes to the track pad, there is not much to write home about. It has the features you'd expect: tracking, two buttons, and the scroll function.
