Simply put, the Fnatic Gear Rush keyboard is a Func KB 460 with a different logo and some different software. This is certainly not a bad thing. As it is often said, "if it isn't broken, don't fix it", and the KB 460 was relatively successful, making it an excellent choice for a first release under a different brand. Having said so, a few small improvements for more features and functions would have been nice. The software is very basic with very little in the terms of functionality, and it would have been nice to see backlight options in a range of colors rather than just red.
Having said so, the positives far outweigh the negatives. As a standalone keyboard, it is excellent; the Cherry MX switches are a pleasure to type on, the keyboard responds quickly, and there is no noticeable input lag. The extra USB ports on the back are readily accessible and are a welcome sight since there can never be too many USB ports! While the wrist rest is a little unorthodox, it is comfortable once attached, although it isn't as firmly attached as a wrist rest that is attached normally. The subtle red midplate actually looks great, but I am not a big fan of this keyboard's breathing LED mode.
While the software does need some work, I can't deny that the functions that are available work well. With Fnatic mode activate, any key with a function set in the software works, and works well, and the multiple profiles allow for different macros for a range of games. Using the Fnatic Gear Rush keyboard was comfortable due to the wrist rest and its quality switches, and during the whole time I used it, I never felt any strain.
With a price tag of under $100, I believe it is priced pretty well since I actually expected it to be a little more expensive due to it having the Fnatic branding. It is nice to see that Fnatic is not exploiting eSports fans by just rehashing the Func KB 460, adding branding, and charging a fortune. The Rush is built well and is an excellent first release for Fnatic Gear, and if they stick to the same formula with future releases, I can see them being a very popular name in the industry.
