A Closer Look

Out of the box and protective bag, the Formovie Cinema Edge 4K is quite compact. Weighing around 7 kg, that is less than the Wemax Nova which shares the same housing shape. The noticeable difference is likely to an alternative cooling setup. That said, the Cinema Edge 4K is one of the lightest units overall. For example, the XGIMI Aura clocks in at nearly double the weight with 15 kg.

The front consists of a grille behind which the four-speaker setup is embedded. The Formovie Cinema Edge 4K uses two 15 W full-range speakers. This is also different from the Nova, which only has a pair of 10 W units, but then includes two 5 W tweeters as well. It makes sense for all of these to be facing the user as the UST projector will be mere inches from the wall. The rear is completely straight as well, and the I/O panel has been recessed to keep things clean visually. It includes three HDMI 2.0, one of which is ARC capable. Next to these are two USB 2.0 ports, a line out, SPDIF, and an Ethernet port for wired connectivity. This is also not quite as expansive as the Nova, which offers an AV input.

You can clearly see the cooling elements through the sides of the Cinema Edge 4K. The heatsinks shine through on one side, while the other sports two intake fans. This means that the cooling setup pushes across the front of the system to keep things as cool as possible. There are little wheels on both sides, so you can easily level out the unit.

The underside of the projector holds the model and safety stickers. From this angle, you can also see the two adjustable feet on the bottom next to the openings for the speaker system.

The Formovie Cinema Edge 4K is both DTS HD and Dolby Audio certified, so you will find that branding on the left corner facing you. On the right, there is the square power button, which also acts as an indicator light using the embedded white LED.

The remote is rather long and very comfortable because of the rounded edges, but does feel pretty cheap due to the all plastic housing. With the battery compartment on the bottom, its center of gravity is so low you won't ever have to worry about it tipping over when reaching for the buttons. Most of them are arranged traditionally, with the power in the top right corner. Formovie has placed the Google profile selector, Google Assistant and settings at the very top, above the navigation ring. Below that are the back, home and live TV button. You will also find dedicated YouTube and Netflix buttons. The latter makes sense as the Cinema Edge 4K fully supports the streaming service.

The remote utilizes two AAA batteries and clocks in at 46 grams, which is fine.
