Initial Setup

G.Skill must have some pretty amazing quality control when it comes to heatspreader installation as each of the four sticks in the kit measured in at a height of 39.56mm. That is pretty exact. It is so exact, it allowed me to install the fan of my CoolerMaster TPC812 without any problems at all.


Installed on the ASUS MAXIMUS VI EXTREME, the fan hangs over one-and-a-half of the four DIMMs, so heatspreader height is an important factor. Their height makes me think G.Skill collected a bunch of CPU heatsinks to figure out average clearance, making their RipjawsX heatspreader a little lower. Looking down the edge of the DIMMs shows them all to be of the same height, and all just barely fit under that fan.
