GELID’s new GC-2 thermal compound comes in a hard plastic shell, like the GC-Extreme compound. On the front you can see the large tube of thermal grease, the applicator as well as a cardboard cut out showing awards the thermal compound has won. On the back of the container are snippets from reviews about the GC-2 compound. The package is white, matching GELID’s “silent” line of products.


To retrieve the thermal grease, the user must cut open the plastic shell. Once open, it cannot be closed or re-sealed. It would have been nice to see a pop on/off clip implemented for those who do not want to have to rip apart the packaging. Included in the package is a very large 7 gram tube of GC-2 as well as GELID’s famous applicator (to spread the thermal grease on the CPU). The applicator, however, has a different design to that of the GC-Extreme.

Installation

To install the grease, the soft plastic cap on the tube must simply be pulled off.


The tube is then pointed to the CPU and a small, rice-grain sized amount of thermal grease is applied. It is applied simply by pressing the lever on the tube.


The grease is then spread evenly around the CPU with the included applicator and the heatsink and fan are installed.
