Gigabyte Z97X-GAMING G1 WIFI-BK (Intel LGA 1150) Review

Introduction

It has now been several weeks since the launch of Intel's latest, its Z97 chipset, and the Haswell refresh processors. If you paid even a little bit of attention to the boards that have come out to support the latest platform, you will have noticed that one of the largest departures in esthetic design offered this time around comes from none other than Gigabyte. From boards with multi-coloured slots in the past to the more recent orange and black OC Series, Gigabyte definitely has a unique take on product design that few will fail to notice, and they have outdone themselves this time around with a completely new look on nearly everything.

To celebrate the new launch, Gigabyte has launched several new product features that encompass other products they already sell, but this time, some of them get the "BLACK EDITION" moniker, Gigabyte's new testament to ultimate stability. All BLACK EDITION products go through "server-level" 168-hour burn-in testing to ensure the BLACK EDITION board you buy is ready to take the punishment you might dish out.

The first product out of Gigabyte's BLACK EDITION product line to cross my desk was the Z97X-GAMING G1 WIFI-BK, a red and black quad-GPU capable board with Gigabyte's latest AMP-UP audio implementation and both Intel and Killer LAN controllers. I present you the Z97X-GAMING G1 WIFI-BK.
