Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard 2 Full Size (96%) Review

Introduction

Glorious Logo

See the logo above? I took the liberty of changing it from the previous one used by Glorious PC Gaming Race, which made its debut on TechPowerUp over three years ago with a mouse pad, and then the original Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard that was among the first retail keyboards with hot-swappable switches—a feature now fairly commonplace. It was first only a full-size keyboard that launched at $110, although it can now be had for all of $85 in other form factors while stock lasts. We have had plenty of other Glorious-branded product reviews since, including the for the money impressive GMMK Pro 75% gasket-mount keyboard, and common across the board is the lack of "PC Gaming Race" outside of the company branding itself. Glorious, as it is referred to, is undergoing a brand update in 2022 to account for these changing times, and the much-awaited Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard 2 is the debuting product of this exercise.

The GMMK 2, as it is referred to both officially and in this review, launches the day this review is published. It is available in two form factors—a Compact TKL 65% (review found here for those interested) and the Full Size (96%) unit that is the subject of this review. Some liberties are being taken with those names, but it is more apt here given the increasing popularity of such 95–96% keyboards, where the usual three banks of keys are somewhat combined. The keyboard will be sold in three colors: black, white, and pink. There is a barebones kit and the pre-built edition. I have the pre-built GMMMK 2 Full Size in black for review, which uses the company's new pre-lubed Glorious Fox switches and ABS doubleshot keycaps. There's a lot to cover both inside and out in this review that begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
