God of War Ragnarök Handheld Performance Review

Graphics Settings

  • You can choose between "fullscreen" and "windowed." Fullscreen is actually borderless, it's not possible to adjust the resolution, you can only run at your desktop's native res, or windowed
  • V-Sync can be disabled completely, there is no hidden FPS cap
  • The FPS limiter can be set to 30, 36, 40, 48, 60, 72, 120, 144 FPS or unlimited
  • "Latency Reduction" is actually NVIDIA Reflex
  • "Frame Gen" lets you enable FSR or DLSS Frame Generation. Please note that DLSS Frame Generation was broken until Patch 2
  • The upscalers available are TAA, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS and NVIDIA DLSS
  • Quality has the usual upscaler quality modes
  • The presets available are "low," "medium," "high," and "ultra"
  • In addition to that, there is a solid list of options to fine-tune performance
  • Motion blur can be disabled completely

Test Devices


We tested the public Steam release of God of War Ragnarök. The Steam Deck LCD was running SteamOS version 3.5.19, build 20240422.1. Our ROG Ally had the latest Armoury Crate version installed at the time of testing (1.5.11.0) along with BIOS 339.
